March 4th is National Unplugging Day, a day where you are encouraged to go
without your phone, computer, tablet, TV or any other technological device you use. Here's what the Three Girls' team had to say about going unplugged:
Erika-
I have zero problem unplugging! On the weekends I already try to go computer and phone free as much as possible. I love to cook so I definitely do a lot of that when I unplug, and it's also getting to be the time of year to get my veggie garden started again. I love playing in the dirt and planting seeds for new crops and that's something I find totally relaxing. When it's not raining I also am mesmerized by my 'outdoor TV' - a bonfire in our fire pit. I can sit for hours in a comfy Adirondack chair and watch the flames! If the weather isn't conducive to being outside I can always curl up in front of our fireplace and do some embroidery.
Beth-
I could unplug, and I would barely look back! There's nothing I love more than wandering around the woods with my dogs, stargazing at night or cloud watching on a sunny day. If I'm indoors, I love playing board games and card games with Jake and we collect all kinds of cool and unique games! I would miss watching Netflix after a while though...!
Jenna-
I have a friend who used to celebrate his birthday at his parent's cabin where there was no cell service or Internet, so it was the equivalent of unplugging. Granted I was surrounded by friends, but I loved it! Going without technology for a bit really lets you slow down and appreciate the world around you. If I had to unplug tomorrow, I would read a book, craft something with yarn, take a walk/hike, do some drumming and play with my cats.
Natalie-
To completely unplug I would need to plan majorly ahead for the day. When I go with my family to the beach it's so easy to not worry about my phone, being on my computer or watching TV. Without taking me out of my daily routine Netflix would be hard to give up and even not using my iPod at the gym would be difficult (maybe just annoying).
Emily-
I'm not sure I could completely unplug. Going 24 hours without my computer wouldn't be an issue, but I relax by binge watching Netflix or playing on my phone (using social media, playing games or reading news), so 24 hours without TV or my phone would be really hard. I'd definitely need to make plans for the day to get me out of the house - and I'd need to know where I was going so I wouldn't need to use Google Maps to navigate!
