THREE GIRLS GOSSIP
trick_or_treat.jpg Are you ready for Halloween next week? The Three Girls team loves this fall holiday! Here are a few reasons why:

Erika: "My favorite Halloween traditions involve cooking or baking something with pumpkin in it like my pumpkin chocolate chip bread or my spicy pumpkin soup. I also love carving pumpkins each year and toasting the seeds with various spices. Delish! This year I'm excited because we grew our own pumpkins and it will be nice to use those for carving and for recipes. One of my favorite Halloween costumes when I was a kid - I was a ghost. I had a white sheet that I cut eye holes out of, then topped it off with a funny curly blond wig, sunglasses and a colorful necktie."

Emily: "I love dressing up in fun costumes and I'm a big fan of candy, so I look forward to Halloween every year! The last several years my husband and I have had a great time coming up with homemade family costumes (pictured right), including:
  • Mr. & Mrs. Incredible
  • Kermit & Miss Piggy
  • Red Riding Hood with Granny & the Big Bad Wolf
  • Ron, Leslie & Lil Sebastian from the TV show Parks & Rec"
null
Natalie: "My favorite Halloween tradition is to carve pumpkins, it's fun to come up interesting/funny faces. I think my favorite costume was when I was Queen Amidala; I won 2 costume contests that year."

Beth: "I love Halloween! My favorite costume was from my last year of college. My husband and I always wear matching costumes and that year we made our own, going as Hunter and Gatherer. We even took silly pictures in the woods to help get in character (pictured right)."

TIPS & TRICKS
3 Social Media Marketing Lessons Learned from Life Without a Laptop: Over the weekend I had to surrender my computer to the repairman in my town to have him fix my damaged laptop. This was a difficult moment for me, considering the laptop is where I do all of my work and check on my social media accounts (I'm not a big fan of apps). Though I made it through the weekend, it became a real struggle when it was time to get back to work on Monday. Here are three lessons I discovered from life without a laptop that can be applied to your next social media marketing campaign.

[Public Relations Toolbox] How to Write a Press Release: One of the most well-known public relations tools is the press release. Although we often opt for pitches over press releases at Three Girls, this tool does have its time and place. This blog post shares how to know if a press release is appropriate and 7 steps to write one.

4 PR Lessons from Standing in a Swarm of Bees: I recently got outside and helped out with the bee hives at the farm. We have to check them regularly, in order to make sure the hive is healthy, creating a good stock of honey and we are able to locate a queen who produces new larvae. This was the first time I've been around a live, open bee box and while the process was exciting and a bit scary, I also found a bunch of similarities with public relations. Here are four PR lessons from standing in a large swarm of bees.
