It's been an exciting couple of weeks for Erika & Emily!
Erika just became an auntie again! Her niece Madison was born Nov. 13 at 8:15am and is 7lbs 10oz and 21 inches long. She also just found out she's a finalist in the Thurston County "Boss of the Year" awards! She'll be interviewed by a committee this Saturday to see if she makes the final cut. Congrats, Erika!
And if that wasn't enough, Erika & Dennis also just got to see Uncle Si from Duck Dynasty! He recently stopped by a local Fred Meyer for a book signing, so of course they went. Dennis was excited to get an early Christmas present of Si's new book, Si-cology, and a 2014 Uncle Si calendar. He also wore his 'Uncle Si for President' t-shirt to the event. There were hundreds of people there and Si even traveled with his famous blue plastic iced tea cup.
What other excitement has been going on? In addition to today being Emily's 5th wedding anniversary, last weekend her daughter turned 1! They had a book-themed birthday party to celebrate, complete with a funfetti Hungry Little Caterpillar cake. The birthday girl especially liked the frosting and ice cream!

Do you know a Silicon Valley woman that deserves recognition? The YWCA Silicon Valley's annual Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Awards is now accepting nominations for the 2014 awards! The deadline is December 6, so don't delay!
Since 1984 the YWCA Silicon Valley has recognized over 1,200 executive women leaders who exemplify excellence in executive-level positions, including our own Erika Taylor Montgomery. Nominated by their CEO, in most cases, their company is recognized not only for promoting women to executive positions, but for partnering with the YWCA to provide much needed programs and services in Silicon Valley. Companies who participate in the YWCA TWIN Awards by nominating an executive woman also provide financial support to the YWCA. How many other recognition events can say that?
Honorees are recognized at a gala dinner in May that is a major fundraiser for the YWCA. Serving over 18,000 Santa Clara County residents, the YWCA provides programs in the areas of rape crisis, domestic violence, human trafficking, youth services, counseling services, TechGYRLS and child care. The YWCA Silicon Valley is proud to have provided services for more than 109 years in Santa Clara County. Its mission is to empower women, children and families, and eliminate racism, hatred and prejudice.
For more information on how to nominate a deserving woman, contact (408) 295-4011 x216 or visit www.ywca-sv.org.
