Hi Friends & Colleagues,

Happy Friday! I hope everything's been going well on your end. Things have been busy but fun at Three Girls. In addition to working with several new clients, we've been filling our time by helping the Muscular Dystrophy Association and attending the Washington State Fair. Keep reading for the full details!

All the best,

THREE GIRLS GOSSIP

A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped support Erika & Emily raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). After being served a "warrant" and "arrested" by a local fireman, they were put "behind bars" and served lunch while they contacted friends, family and colleagues for help making "bail." Still want to help out? It's not too late! Visit Erika's page or Emily's page to find out more and donate.

What else has been going on at Three Girls? The Washington State Fair! Erika, Dennis and Emily took a trip (along with Emily's husband and daughter) to the fairgrounds for a day of fun and food! Highlights included Erika and Dennis experiencing their very first Elephant Ear (which they thought was delicious!), a bag full of warm, freshly baked fair scones, checking out all sorts of various animals (from horses and pigs to dogs and goats) and more!

Publicist Stefanie Burger was able to make it to the fair, too! She and her boyfriend, Preston, were planning to go last Saturday, but instead he surprised her with Carrie Underwood tickets on Friday! They went a little early to nibble on some BBQ and scones, and then had an amazing time hearing Carrie sing. She even sang Stef's favorite song, "I Know You Won't." After the concert they met up with some of Preston's friends and hit the carnival games where he won Stefanie a HUGE stuffed pink penguin she appropriately named JUMBO!

HOT HEADLINES

Looking for a getaway for two? Bay Area Family Travel recently featured Three Girls' client, Hotel Valencia Santana Row, as The Shopping Parents Getaway

"My husband Frank and I chose to spend a summer date night [at Hotel Valencia Santana Row], and we hope to do it again. We were positively rejuvenated after 24 hours and had so much fun visiting the shops and cafes - we felt like teenagers out past curfew. Once we explored the hotel, we felt like we ventured into an inner sanctum. Everything is so quiet that you would never guess there were over 200 rooms on the property. The hotel lobby is on the third floor, and after leaving the hubbub of the street scene, we noticed the peaceful, zen vibe after the elevator doors dinged open. A Buddha fountain with sweet trickling water greeted us, and the attending staff efficiently and softly checked us in and gave the lowdown: free wi-fi, free workout room, free extended continental breakfast, rooftop pool, hotel bar, hotel restaurant."

TIPS & TRICKS

Negativity & Miss America: Online Lessons to Learn - This past week, social media made the news in a not so pretty way. Miss America was crowned in Atlantic City, and for the first time in the pageant's history, the winner was of Indian decent. Viewers took to Twitter, Facebook and various sites to express their outrage. While the "scandal" was completely unwarranted, it has brought the Miss America organization and the new Miss America, Nina Davuluri, under a whole new lens as the world waited to see how they would each handle the negativity that flooded their social media pages while remaining true to the missions of their organization. In this blog post, we introduce a handful of things that small business owners can learn from Miss America and can use if and when crisis hits and negativity or complaints inundate social media.

Social Media Marketing Strategy: How to Get Your Content Shared - What is your social media marketing strategy? Is it aimed at getting more likes or getting people to share your content? Every day we are bombarded by social media marketing stints from businesses competing to stand out. So what content makes the cut? Believe it or not, social media doesn't have the luxury of being created equal. It is your job to create a social media marketing strategy that is targeted at getting people to share, retweet, and pin your original content. This post shares examples of what content will succeed most on various social media platforms.

Email Marketing: 4 Reasons You Need an E-Newsletter - Did you know that more than three times as many people have active email accounts than social media accounts? This is one of the many reasons why a monthly e-newsletter could benefit you and your business. In this blog post, we identify four reasons why you and your business need to implement a regular email marketing distribution.
