Our children's health and safety is our priority
 
Parents and caregivers are invited to attend an upcoming workshop to discuss options for ensuring the health and safety of students travelling to and from school. The first workshop takes place on May 25 starting at 7 p.m. at North Thornhill Community Centre.

It's your VMC, your new downtown
The City of Vaughan has launched a new website - myvmc.ca. It's all about our new downtown, the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC). It includes information on living and working in the VMC as well as development plans and an interactive 3-D map.


Did you know Vaughan has a Lobbyist Registry?
This tool gives the public access to information about who is communicating with public office holders. The registry is voluntary for the first year. 

What's old is new again during curbside giveaway
Spring cleaners and treasure hunters unite! The City's first-ever curbside giveaway offers residents the chance to part with unwanted, gently used items and treasure hunters the opportunity to discover a few gems.
Get your groove on at Concerts in the Park
Concerts in the Park are the perfect place to twist and shout this summer. For 23 years, families have been enjoying these free shows that take place from June to August on select Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m., weather permitting. Check out the lineup for this year.

Did you know Vaughan used to have an airport that opened in 1954? Our city has a wonderful historical past. Take a glimpse back in time with our Canada 150 timeline.




It's National Public Works Week! 
Public works is the heartbeat of any city. Join us as we celebrate National Public Works Day on May 27 at the Joint Operations Centre located at 2800 Rutherford Rd. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be lots of fun activities and free mulch!
Outdoor water use restrictions are in effect
The golden days of summer are quickly approaching. Before you turn on that hose, check our website to make sure you are watering on the right day at the right time.
Stormwater charge begins in June
Beginning in June, the stormwater fee will appear as a separate item on your utility bill. This one-time charge is not a new fee, as stormwater services were previously collected through property taxes and the wastewater fee.

Have coffee with a firefighter
Join Vaughan firefighters at McDonald's (2810 Major Mackenzie Dr.) from 10 a.m. to noon to ask questions, learn something new and get to know the firefighters in your community.



May 27
Kids Bike Rodeo
Bring your bike and helmet to National Public Works Day for a Kids Bike Rodeo. Kids can meet up with others and ride through an obstacle course. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
