Smoke alarms: It's all about the location
 
Can you hear the beep where you sleep? The location of your smoke alarms can impact the amount of time you have to get out of a house fire safely

As part of Fire Prevention Week 
(Oct. 4-10), Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to install smoke alarms in every bedroom.

Fall leaf and yard waste collection

Fall is here! That means starting today your fall leaf and yard waste will be collected every week until  Nov. 27 on your regular garbage collection day. Don't forget to set out your leaf and yard waste by 7 a.m. to ensure pick up.
Tickled pink for a great cause
This month, Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a new ride. A pink wrapped fire truck is making its way to four different fire stations in Vaughan where residents can visit and write personal messages on the truck. You can show your support by visiting any of the fire stations below:

Enhancing the citizen experience
Service excellence at the forefront of Vaughan's refreshed strategic plan

The City of Vaughan is committed to investing in our community's future and building on the citizen experience to provide the most value to residents. In a presentation to Council on Sept. 30, City Manager Steve Kanellakos outlined a refreshed strategic plan
 that is aimed at providing a set of priorities for the City to deliver on its mission of citizens first through service excellence.
