Vote YES for LOST Renewal
|
Floyd Valley Hospital is asking for your support for the Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) renewal being brought to public vote on August 6th. If LOST is renewed, it will mean that the city will be able to fulfill its pledge to contribute another $2 million to our upcoming construction project. This will not increase the current tax to 8%, but keep it at 7% where it has been at since 2000.
An announcement was made by U.S. Senator Tom Harkin on July 13th that Floyd Valley Hospital did receive a $15.75 million loan from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development. With that funding source secured, the hospital will use hospital reserves, revenue bonds and a capital campaign, in addition to the LOST funds, to complete the $25 million project. The new addition will add 44,000 square feet to the building that will house the clinic and surgical areas. The project also includes the remodeling of 7,000 square feet that will be used to relocate patient services including bringing the MRI machine into the building. All these updates will keep Floyd Valley Hospital your local healthcare choice!

As summer winds down and the school year is fast approaching, it is a great time to think about getting your children and teens updated on their physicals and immunizations. In the past few years there have become several new recommendations regarding immunizations. General physicals are a great time to discuss these recommendations with your healthcare provider as well as all kinds of questions and concerns you may have. Screenings for physical and emotional problems will be done at their annual physical exam. Teaching healthy lifestyles, appropriate diet and exercise, dealing with peer pressure and making healthy choices may be discussed at this time as well. Athletic physical forms can be completed during this more comprehensive physical. Many health insurance companies do cover an annual physical for children and teens. Please check with your plan for your specific benefits. Athletic Physical Dates
