WHAT IS APPLIED ZOOPHARMACOGNOSY? Zoopharmacognosy is the study of how animals self-medicate. The term is from the ancient Greek 'zoo' (animal), 'pharmaco' (remedy) and 'gnosy' (knowing). Unlike their wild counterparts, captive and domesticated animals rarely have the opportunity to forage on medical plants. Applied Zoopharmacognosy works on the principle of giving back to animals the medicinal, non-food remedies similar to those they would naturally seek in the wild. In this course Caroline focuses on working with domesticated animals to show how to guide their innate ability to select a remedy on their own. The course consists of three parts: Theory of Practice, Canine Practical, and Equine Practical.
