Weekly "Dicho con Café"
"La misa, dígala el cura"
The author's translation is:
"Mass, let the priest say it!"
It is impossible for anyone to know everything, so it is a wise person who gets a qualified accountant to handle his bookkeeping along with state and federal reports that need to be filed, so as to make sure that this part of the business is being handled properly. Having attorneys to look over leases, large purchase agreements and any other legal matters is important since they are the experts. In other words, let the experts take care of some of the problems that a business person gets from time to time and protect your business and yourself from bigger problems later on.

More About John A. Flores
Many years ago, Mr. Flores was Executive Director for two organizations in Fresno County. First, he headed up the Community Service Organization, first as President and then as Executive Director. As some of you history buffs might recall, CSO (as it was known) was the organization which Cesar Chavez was very much involved with before going on to form the United Farm Workers Union (also known as UFW). During the two-plus years he directed this organization, he and his community organizers organized 23 adult and 20 youth groups in Fresno County and today, some of those organizations still exist. These organizations helped bring in self-help housing to their community as well as many other improvements, such as a gas line to a local community that was totally dependent on butane which made their utility bill very expensive, especially during the winter. It also laid the foundation whereby many Hispanic leaders emerged and began taking on roles as city councilmen within their communities as well as supervisor positions with the County of Fresno. He left CSO and then headed up the first Concentrated Employment Program (CEP) from the Department of Labor and at one time oversaw a staff of 160 with a $20 million dollar budget. Both CSO and CEP were recognized by the state and national office for their effectiveness in organizing and placing people into jobs. Then-Governor Ronald Reagan recognized CSO for its outstanding service in working with the local communities and CEP was recognized as the number one program from over 220 programs in the nation. It's a record that Mr. Flores is very proud of and many thanks go to the hard-working staff and numerous volunteers that made this all happen.
