Dichos y Dichos
Welcome
Greetings!

Once again, we continue with the discussion that are highlighted from Og Mandino's book.  Today's illustrations are from the seventh scroll which states: "I will laugh at the world."

Did you know that no living creature can laugh except man?Trees may bleed when they are wounded and beasts in the field will cry out in pain and hunger, yet only you have the gift of laughter and it's up to you to choose when to use it! Even though you may be confronted with man or deed that offends you and brings forth tears and curses, train yourself to say four words until they become a habit so strong that immediately they will appear in your mind whenever good humor appears to depart from you.  These words that have been passed down by the ancients will carry you through every adversity and maintain a balance in your life.  These four words are: "This too shall pass."

For all the worldly things shall indeed pass.  When you are heavy with heartache, console yourself that this too shall pass.  When you are strangled in poverty, tell yourself this too shall pass.  Paint your day with laughter.  You must never labor to be happy, but rather remain busy to be sad.  Enjoy today's happiness today!  It is not a grain to be stored in a box nor is it wine to be saved in a bottle.  It cannot be saved for tomorrow and it must be sown and reaped on the same day.

Never allow yourself to become so important, so wise, so dignified, so powerful that you forget how to laugh at yourself and your world.  Remember that as long as you can laugh, you will not be poor!  Only with laughter and happiness can you truly be successful.  Only with laughter and happiness can you enjoy the fruits of your labor.  Happiness is the wine that sharpens the taste of your meal.

Weekly "Dicho con Caf"

"Llevar la musica por dentro."

The author's translation is:
"To carry the music within you."

What this dicho addresses is how a person should live, which is to live with "a song in their heart."  By having a song in your heart or, as noted, to have music within yourself, you are assuring yourself of a much happier outlook on life and as a result have a much happier life.  Music makes for a happier world and by having music within yourself, things will look much brighter, and life will be more pleasant in spite of the many obstacles that no doubt will challenge your daily life.  Turn on the music in your car when going to work and you'll start the day with a much more happier outlook even though some problems will arise later!

More About John A. Flores

The Floreses recently returned from another cruise (this was their fourteenth cruise) and they were able to visit another country, Santo Domingo, along with other territorial places they have visited before, such as Grand Turk Island, Nassau and Puerto Rico.  Like all cruises, the life aboard ship is fantastic, with room service as near as your phone, all kinds of new food dishes to try, shows and entertainment to see, call-of-port excursions, and of course, the extra pounds put on that now have to come off! They were able to visit their 61st country and hopefully the future will take them to other parts of the world such as the European eastern bloc countries, including countries like Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Hungary and others that they have not yet visited.  One of the challenges with traveling to such places is that the air travel times to some parts of the world call for air travel times of fourteen to twenty hours nonstop, and as one gets older, the body aches are more common and long trips become less desirable.  But, the "spirit" of adventure continues to flow in their veins so it is hopeful that the future is full of good health so that many more countries are able to be visited.  As mentioned in prior newsletters, education has been the key for the Flores family to be able to travel giving them the financial resources to be able to enjoy this part of their life.
