 Welcome!

It's APRIL!
Hello, Friends!

The studio is a mess!  I've been moving from project to project, so it's OK.  One of these days, there will be a lull in action and I'll tidy things up.  Actually, looking at the studio as a 3-ring circus makes my work much more fun.  Here's what is happening in the 3-rings.  See below.

Oh, notice that my show schedule is starting to fill up. Look at the schedule to the right.

Coming this Month:
  • Completing hand-printed diplomas for The Philadelphia School
  • Linocut carving of a gorgeous HAMBURGER with a mountain backdrop for the James Ranch Harvest Grill and Greens in Durango, CO.  (See sketch above.)
  • Two new beer labels for Pub Dog Brewery
  • Logo paintings of three constellation animals for Camp Sewataro in Sudbury, MA:  The Great Bear, Eagle, and Fox.  I'll show you in the May newsletter!
  •  A custom-painted Piggy Bank
  • Shows to get ready for
  • Re-writing my Rya rug Instruction booklet
  • Painting a wall mural for Human Services Program for Carroll County, Inc.
  • Heck, there's a lot more , but I don't want to think about it now.
My mistake:  That is a 9-ring Circus!

Hot Off the Easel

I painted this raven in flight a couple of weeks ago.  It will be silkscreened on shirts in "three shades of gray."  I have offered to my Facebook friends and fans of Byrdcall Studio --and I am now offering to all of you--a price break for pre-ordered shirts.   Let me know if you want a shirt in a particular color.  Tell me by April 7 when I will place my shirt order.  Shirts are Comfort Colors brand--highest quality!
Men's shirt colors:
Blue spruce, Hemp, Flo Blue, Khaki, Yam, Crimson, or Berry.  Tell me size Small, Medium, Large, or X-Large. $20 for pre-orders, $25 after April 7.

Women's shirt colors:  Flo blue, Lagoon, raspberry, Lavender, Sage, Watermelon.
Tell me size Small, Medium, Large, or X-Large. $20 for pre-orders, $25 after April 7.

Tell me if you want to  pay by credit card or mail a check.  I'll follow up with all you need to know.  For MD orders, 6% tax will be added.  And yes, there are other colors choices--just trying not to overwhelm you...request what you like, even long-sleeves for $5 more.

And yes, I will be printing some in Royal Purple for you crazy football fans.

I have your orders, Steve, Bill, and Deanna.

When You are Known for

Painting Anything on Anything...

Last month, my friend, Ruth, asked me if I could paint two wine glasses for a wedding gift.  On one she wanted a turnip, and on the other, a banana.  "Don't ask." she quipped.   Turnip and Banana Wine Glasses
A week later, she added two more unique requests: a piano and a trumpet.  Why not?
Piano and Trumpet Wine GLasses
The piano would look best with white wine;
the trumpet would look best with red wine--for contrast.

Semi-Private Rya Rug Design Class to be held at the end of this month.

When the old wool rya rug backing disappeared from the face of the earth, I thought that would be the end of rya rug making.  Not so.  Every day, I get a request from some where on Earth about how to finish a rug, or design a rug, or in search for yarn or backings.  If you want to learn everything I know about ryas, join our small class.  Click here for Class write-up on blogpage

I'm completing Hand-Printed Diplomas for The Philadelphia School for the Forth Year

Its fun to come up with a design that a school asks you to print as the diploma for graduating students.  TPS has used the May the Road Rise to Meet You linocut, and the May the Wind be Always at Your Back woodcut.  This year, they will be using (for the second year) the design I made for them last year.  They are currently drying on the drying rack.

And the Thoreau Sweatshirt
Winner is  ......  Blue Spruce

No, I did not rig the election.  In fact it was very close... Thanks to all of you who voted for their favorite color for a Thoreau sweat shirt.  These fleece shirts are so comfortable.  Look at the detailed photos at this link:

Again, I sure appreciate your support of my work.  Glad you found the time to make it all the way through.

Have a great month.  See you in May!.
