Texas, Mississippi governors offer support for state management of troubled Gulf fishery
Coastal Conservation Association and the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation are applauding the governors of Texas and Mississippi for letters to the leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives in support of HR 3094, a bill that would shift management of the Gulf red snapper fishery away from the federal government and replace it with a coordinated Gulf States partnership. HR 3094, sponsored by Congressman Garret Graves (LA), was approved by the House Committee on Natural Resources earlier this month and represents the best opportunity to deliver a robust fishery that is more accessible to the public.

On June 29, recreational fishing and boating organizations supported the Senate Commerce Committee's passage of S. 3099, The Access for Sportfishing Act of 2016.  Recently introduced by Senators Bill Nelson (FL) and Marco Rubio (FL), the legislation contains several important marine fisheries-related provisions, including: Fishery management measures in Biscayne National Park and a necessary change to the Billfish Conservation Act of 2012...

Governors Sportsmen's Caucus Leadership Encourages Attendance at Summer Reception
Governors Sportsmen's Caucus leadership Co-Chairs Earl Ray Tomblin (WV) and Gov. Phil Bryant (MS), and Vice-Chairs Gov. Peter Shumlin (VT) and Gov. Matt Mead (WY) as well as Former Chair Gov. Terry Branstad (IA) submitted a formal joint letter to colleagues and friends of GSC inviting them to the GSC Summer Reception in Des Moines, Iowa on July 15.
