On March 22, House Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC) Co-Chairs Congressmen Rob Wittman (VA) and Jeff Duncan (SC), and Vice-Chair Congressman Gene Green (TX) sent a letter to the Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, urging protection of recreational fishing equipment from regulation under the Toxic Substances Control Act...

In recent weeks, a wide array of key entities, including the state and national sportsmen's community and members of Alaska's Congressional Delegation, have highlighted concerns with proposed rules from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) that would severely restrict the Alaska Department of Fish and Game's (ADFG) ability to carry out traditional, effective wildlife management techniques on National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) lands in Alaska. The FWS rule docket, titled "Non-Subsistence Take of Wildlife, and Public Participation and Closure Procedures, on National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska (proposed rule)," would severely inhibit ADFG's ability to engage in predator management practices that have historically been used to sustain populations of key big game species critical to subsistence users in Alaska...

Georgia: Sportsmen's Caucus Hosts Indoor Shooting Event in Atlanta
On March 15, the Georgia Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus hosted an indoor shooting range event at Stoddard's Indoor Gun Range in downtown Atlanta.  The event, made possible by generous support from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and the National Rifle Association, provided an opportunity for legislators, staffers, and conservation partners to receive firearm training and instruction as well as interact with each other outside of the Capitol...  

Last week, Governors Sportsmen's Caucus former Co-Chair and current member Governor Terry Branstad (IA) signed two pro-sportsmen's bills into law, advancing the interests of sportsmen and women in the Hawkeye State...

On March 29, the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) hosted the Maryland Sportsmen's Reception to celebrate the time-honored traditions of hunting and angling in the Old Line State. Over 75 guests, including more than 35 members of the General Assembly, gathered in celebration of the various social, cultural, economic, and ecological benefits hunting and angling provide for all Marylanders -- consumptive and the non-consumptive users alike...

On March 23, the bipartisan and bicameral Tennessee Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus hosted their annual legislative reception in the War Memorial Auditorium in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.   With support from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation, the event served as a venue for interaction between legislators, staffers, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) staff and commissioners, and representatives from various sportsmen's organizations.  The event was attended by over 150 people...
