On October 22, H.R. 3799, the Hearing Protection Act of 2015 was introduced by Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC) Member Congressman Matt Salmon (AZ). The bill includes 22 co-sponsors, including Vice-Chair of the CSC, Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC). The Hearing Protection Act will remove firearm suppressors from the purview of the National Firearms Act, and instead require that all suppressor sales be subject to an instantaneous background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)...

On October 15, H.R. 3802, the Alternative Ammunition Manufacturing Act was introduced by Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC) Member Congressman Brian Babin (TX).  Under the Gun Control Act of 1968, ammunition composed of alternative materials is illegal to import, manufacture and sell unless it receives a "sporting purposes" exemption from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)...

A coalition of organizations representing the saltwater recreational fishing and boating community applauded the House Resources subcommittee on Water, Power and Oceans for its hearing on H.R. 3094, the Gulf States Red Snapper Management Authority Act.  The bill, sponsored by Congressman Garret Graves (R-La.) and 28 bipartisan co-sponsors, will grant legal recognition to the plan adopted by the Fish and Wildlife agencies of all five Gulf States to assume management of the Gulf red snapper in federal waters...

This week, legislators from 30 state legislative sportsmen's caucuses and nearly 200 attendees joined the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) and representatives from the hunting and fishing community in Manchester, Vermont for the 12th Annual National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC) Sportsman-Legislator Summit, to reflect on current issues related to hunting, angling, and fish and wildlife conservation...

On October 23, the Ohio Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus joined members from the Ohio sportsmen's community for an afternoon of shooting sporting clays at the Cardinal Shooting Center outside of Columbus... 

On November 3, more than 81 percent of Texas voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 6 -- a constitutional amendment that guarantees Texans the right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife. With the passage of this Proposition, Texas became the 19th state to amend its constitution to ensure the protection of its hunting, angling and trapping traditions...

Angling Groups Comment on Conservation, Recreation Priorities in Washington State
On October 31, the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF), American Sportfishing Association (ASA), B.A.S.S., and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) submitted a joint letter to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) outlining fisheries issues affecting the state's 938,000 anglers. The letter urges the WDFW to consider refocusing key areas in its outdoor recreation and conservation priorities...
