Sportsmen Legislators Promote Bipartisan Cooperation at 2nd Annual "Whiskies of the World" and Cigar Reception

WOW2013
July 18, 2013 (Washington, DC) - To foster camaraderie in the halls of government, the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) hosted the 2nd Annual "Whiskies of the World" and Cigar Reception on Wednesday, July 17. The Capitol Hill event featured twenty members of the bipartisan and bicameral Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC) who gathered together, despite the oppressive DC heat, with members of the sportsmen's conservation community to discuss issues important to America's sportsmen and women.

CSC Co-Chair, Congressman Bob Latta addressed the crowd on behalf of the Caucus. "Hunting season is quickly approaching, and the opportunities to continue to enjoy sportsmen's traditions don't happen unless we have the bipartisan support and help from you all out there. Right now, we've got legislation to make sure that we help sportsmen and women across this country with the sportsmen's package that we're working on. We need your help to advance these priorities."

CSF President, Jeff Crane, thanked the members of the CSC for their commitment to the Caucus, and re-emphasized the need for bipartisan cooperation in advancing sportsmen's issues in the 113th Congress. "The outcome of last year's sportsmen's package was a prime example of how political theatre gets in the way of common sense legislation. I ask all of you to continue to work together and reach across the aisle to pass this legislation that is crucial to protecting our sportsmen's heritage."

This year's "Whiskies of the World" and Cigar Reception was made possible thanks to the support of the Title Sponsor, Crossroads Strategies. Additionally, CSF wishes to thank the Hosts of the event: ATK; Cabela's Outdoor Fund; Diageo; ITC Holdings Corporation; International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association; Kraftson Caudle; National Rifle Association; National Shooting Sports Foundation; Richard Childress Racing; Safari Club International; Shimano American Corporation; Sports South, LLC; and, the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America. CSF further thanks the evening's Co-Hosts: American Gas Association; The Buck Bomb; The Coca-Cola Company; Delta Strategy Group; Ducks Unlimited; Forbes-Tate; JC Larkin Company, LLC; John Milne; National Air Traffic Controllers Association; Natural Resource Results, LLC; Ponfeigh Farms, LLC; Southern Company; and, Watershed Results, LLC.

Since 1989 the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) has maintained a singleness of purpose that has guided the organization to become the most respected and trusted sportsmen's organization in the political arena. CSF's mission is to work with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, recreational fishing and shooting and trapping. The unique and collective force of the CSC, the Governors Sportsmen's Caucus (GSC) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC), working closely with CSF, and with the support of major hunting, recreational fishing and shooting, and trapping organizations, serves as an unprecedented network of pro-sportsmen elected officials that advance the agenda of America's hunters and anglers.

Working with Congress, Governors and State Legislatures to protect and advance hunting, recreational shooting, fishing and trapping.
