Farmers' Market Season Begins!
As the weather gets warmer and seeds sprout, farmers' markets are ramping up for the season--literally. At the markets this month look for spring's ephemeral treasures, including ramps, fiddle heads, asparagus, wild mushrooms, early peas, and much more. It's the beginning of the farmers' market season, and with over 70 markets scattered throughout the valley, there's bound to be one near you. For market locations and hours, check out The Valley Table's complete market listing, here. We give a special shout out to the Rhinebeck Farmers' Market. One of the longest running markets in the valley, Rhinebeck celebrates its 20th market season this year with the production of a short film capturing the joy and community spirit of the farmers' market. The outdoor market runs every Sunday (municipal lot, 61 East Market St.), rain or shine, beginning May 12. Stop by to congratulate the farmers and market manager. |

Events Around The Hudson Valley
It's spring in the Hudson Valley, and that's reason enough to celebrate, but there's more: It's National Salad Month

National Wildflower Week (Ladybird J's origination) reminds us all to get out and enjoy the wild beauty of our fields. And don't forget: Mothers Day, May 12.

Rebuilding Breezy Hill Orchard's Cider House
Ten years ago, Breezy Hill Orchard lost its historic 1820's cider house in a devastating fire. Today, Elizabeth Ryan, owner and producer, is raising funds through a Kickstarter account to rebuild. She hopes that the campaign will allow the farm to expand the production of its artisan hard ciders and meads.
Check out Breezy Orchard's video story and Kickstarter campaign, click here.
