Bill Setchell is retiring after 12 years with Riverside Research | |
Bill was instrumental in supporting the ISR TOPOFF Pre-deployment Training Program and even had the opportunity to go on-site to personally train the soldiers. Bill provided some of his most memorable stories from his career (1) Just to Get Started, (2) Some Not-So-Serious Experiences, (3) Most Interesting Experiences, and (4) A Couple of Close Calls all of which are must reads, see page 2. Bill, we wish you a blessed retirement full of more great stories!

USPTO Issues another Patent to Lizzi Center |
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued Patent No. 8,292,812 B2, Ultrasonic detection of brachytherapy seeds based on singular spectrum analysis, to our Lizzi Center for Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Ernie Feleppa, Lizzi Center Director, and Dr. Jonathan Mamou are the inventors. Funded by the National Institutes of Health, this invention has the ability to save prostate cancer patients weeks of radiation treatment by determining the exact location of implanted seeds. Riverside Research now holds 19 active patents; seventeen reside in the Lizzi Center. Read More |
Riverside Research Forges Partnership with Exelis VIS | |
Riverside Research partnered with Exelis Visual Information Solutions (VIS) to host a three-day training session entitled "ENVI for Spectral PED," the first-ever ENVI training specifically designed to address the unique requirements of Spectral Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (PED). ENVI is the premier software application and industry standard for easily processing and analyzing geospatial imagery. Nearly 20 intelligence professionals supporting NASIC attended the training event at our Dayton Research Center last month. Read More |
Hard Work Pays Off for Two CIS Interns | |
 Steven Byrd (right) and Michael Silvers (left) came to Riverside Research as software developers studying Computer Information Systems (CIS) at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. The students made the most of their internship opportunity, gaining valuable hands-on experience that led to certification in AGI's flagship analysis software, Systems Tool Kit (STK). Upon completing the intern program, Steven and Michael were hired as part-time consultants to our Cyber Research Lab in support of a major IR&D project. Read More |
Collegiate Partnerships Build Case for UAS Test Site in Dayton | |
The Dayton region has its sights set on landing one of the FAA's highly coveted Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) test sites. Partnerships with several local colleges, including Wilberforce University, place our E&T Directorate at the center of Dayton's UAS workforce development surge. Riverside Research and Wilberforce have teamed up to offer Dayton's first and only bachelor degree program in Advanced Technical Intelligence and Remote Sensing. Three new courses were added for the upcoming spring semester, two of which are not offered anywhere else in the nation. Read More
