Creating a Culture of Wellness in Healthcare Settings
Register now for an interactive conference designed for physicians and clinical staff to enhance their own wellness and their clinics' workplace wellness, with an emphasis on physical activity, nutrition, and stress management. Blue Cross and Blue Shield Announces Funding Opportunity
To help meet Nebraska's health and wellness needs, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska recently announced the availability of $100,000 in grants to non-profit organizations working toward building healthier communities. BCBS has provided a Request for Proposal, which includes eligibility information, guidelines and the application checklist. The deadline for proposals is April 1. Click here to learn more.

CDC Presents Health, United States, 2011 in Multiple Formats
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Health, United States reports present an annual picture of the nation's health, including trends in infant mortality, health status, risk factors, and more. Health, United States, 2011: In Brief is a companion to the larger report and contains 20 charts and a table of key national health indicators, which can be compared to state and local estimates. A new dynamic version of Health, United States, 2011: In Brief lets you create your own charts and tables and include data from the full Health, United States report.
Nutrition and Physical Activity Resources Available in Spanish
The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have translated materials from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans into Spanish. The materials on the website can be downloaded for free of charge. |

The Midwest Dairy Council, an affiliate of National Dairy Council, is the nutrition education division of Midwest Dairy Association and has been dedicated to nutrition research, education and communication since 1915. Research Examines Trends in Food and Beverage Marketing
The marketing of high-calorie and nutrient-poor foods and beverages is linked to overweight and obesity in the United States. Book Introduces Young Children to MyPlate
The newly revised Two Bite Club book for young children was developed to introduce MyPlate to preschoolers. The book is currently available online. This spring, printed copies will be available and individual student copies may be ordered at that time.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally funded program that helps fill the summer meal gap for low-income children by reimbursing organizations that serve children meals at feeding sites during summer months. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) new toolkit, Steps to Wellness: A Guide to Implementing the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans in the Workplace provides employers with easy and understandable steps on how to get employees moving.

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) has developed an innovative series of transportation, land use, and community design policy guides. These cross-sector, evidence-based resources aim to educate and empower public health leaders to promote a Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach to policymaking and program development. CDC Report: More Mothers Are Breastfeeding
Across all groups, the percentage of mothers who start and continue breastfeeding is rising, according to a report recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Request for Public Comment on mPINC Survey
The first national survey of Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care (known as the mPINC Survey) was launched for hospitals and free-standing birth centers in 2007, and repeated in 2009 and 2011. Written comments from the public on the importance of continuing this survey in 2013 and 2015 are requested by April 11. |
