Have you heard?  There is a new simplified home office deduction for all you entrepreneurs who work from home!  Instead of having to track and record all expenses related to the home office or worry about depreciation that was claimed when you are ready to sell, you can choose to use the simplified method.  It basically says that $5 per square foot is deductible up to 300 square feet with a maximum of $1,500.  Also, your mortgage interest and real estate taxes are fully deductible on your Schedule A instead of having to track the business and personal portions separately.  If you wish to take advantage of this new method, it is available starting with the 2013 returns that are being filed now so make sure you mention it!!
