This is a significant year as the ITLA is now legally of age. We turned twenty-one in March. Let me extend a big CONGRATULATIONS to all of you. I would like to review some of the attributes that have brought this great organization to this point in its history.
We have a dedicated Board of Directors that is building on the heritage of all the Boards that have served ITLA since it was founded, and is working to strengthen the foundation of our association, to insure that it is serving the Texas Longhorn Industry for decades to come. We are blessed with an outstanding staff that strives to serve our members in the most capable manner possible. Longhorn Marketing Conference a Success in Branson
Two and a half days of Longhorn learning drew some 60 people to Branson, MO in May. Welcoming the registrants, ITLA president Roger Hutton promised an information-packed conference and the solid seminar content did not disappoint.
In fact, the response of Doug Stotts of Midway, TX, was "What we found most amazing was the incredible amount of knowledge that was shared in just a couple of days." He went on to say that "The event was well organized and the staff was both professional and extremely friendly. We tip our hat to Mr. Assad and his ability to bring in well respected industry pros to share their experiences with us."

Earning anew the reputation for being tough and able to survive difficult situations, this Texas Longhorn, George, was spotted near Possum Kingdom Lake after fires ravaged the area earlier last month; near Glen Rose, Texas.

Great Basin Association Hosts Farnsworth Memorial Sale
Drawing buyers from across the region, the Great Basin Texas Longhorn Association honored the late Durell Farnsworth at this year's sale, held May 14 at Duchesne, UT. Auctioneer Bill Le'An of Humansville, MO was ably assisted on by the knowledgeable Longhorn icon, Doug Hunt, as 29 lots were sold.
Top selling heifer was a JP Rio Grande daughter consigned by Oren and Dianna O'Dell of Osawatomie, KS that brought $3,750. Buyer was Doug Hunt of St. George, UT. Stan Searle of Monument, CO paid $3,250 for a Sittin Bull heifer out of a Roundup daughter, consigned by Bill Le'An. Daniel and Angelina Fey of Yamhill, OR bought an O'Dell heifer by D/O Kansas Cowboy for $2,000....CLICK HERE FOR THE REST OF THE RESULTS...
The Durell Farnsworth Memorial Heifer Sale was held by the Great Basin Texas Longhorn Association. The sale honored 20-year ITLA member and Director Durell who, with his wife Linda and family, generously supported Longhorn events across the country.

Longhorns and Art: the Perfect Mix in Montana
When we received the electronic news release on Dave Hodges from the Montana Stockgrowers Association, we knew that we should share it with you through the e-Drover. We were aware that Dave and Carmen have been raising good Longhorn cattle for decades--and that they also have an art gallery where Dave's work is displayed. But Big Timber, Montana is quite a ways off the trail for most of us--so we asked him to share his history in the Texas Longhorn business with those who won't make it to Big Timber this summer to visit his ranch or gallery.
