THIS YEAR'S GRANT APPLICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING CHANGES:

  • Buy Recycled Policy Eligibility Criteria - new annual notification requirement
  • NEW: Mattress and Carpet Recycling Incentive - subsidy for transportation and processing
  • School Recycling Assistance - new funding levels
  • Waste Reduction Projects - new category to establish a permanent HHW facility ($250,000 maximum)
HHW Collection Season Kicks off in Barnstable
  
It was a busy Saturday at the Barnstable Transfer Station. Close to 300 vehicles participated in the Cape's first household hazardous waste (HHW) event of the season; 17,500 pounds of waste were collected (with a volume of 4,150 gallons), including 12 fifty-five gallon drums of pesticides.

Save the Date: Organics Management on Cape Cod (Workshop) - May 27th

This workshop will provide an update on organic waste management on Cape Cod, including details from Harvest Power on their plans to construct an anaerobic digester in Bourne. Mary Ryther from Compost With Me will also talk about her food waste collection and composting businesses in Falmouth. Details and speakers are still being worked out, but please save the date if you are interested.
