MassDEP Grant Workshop, May 8th:
Learn about the New Recycling Dividends Program

This year's MassDEP grant workshop is scheduled  for  May 8th, from 9:30am to 11:30am, in the Harbor View Room at the Barnstable County Complex. For the schedule of all the workshops throughout the state and directions, click here.

In addition to the usual SMRP grants (PAYT, transfer station equipment, etc.), this year, MassDEP is introducing a new and different grant program called the
Recycling Dividends Program (RDP). It's more like a rewards program than a grant, really.

Here's how it works:
  • A municipality earns points for having implemented programs and policies that have demonstrated impact on waste diversion.
  • RDP will be evaluated and separated from, and ahead of, all other grant categories.
  • This program provides payments, not reimbursements, to be used toward an approved set of equipment and activities.  Annual reporting will be required to document how funds were spent.
  • RDP rewards communities with model recycling programs and provides incentives to take strategic steps to improve programs

Click here for more information about the RDP and all other categories of SMRP grants available this year.
