Hello Everyone,
Many thanks, to all of you who participated at the Demonstration Garden during the Barnstable County Fair. I'm glad so many of you were able to sign up for a shift. I also want to give a big thanks to all those who come on Wednesday mornings to make the garden look so beautiful, I heard a lot of great comments about the gardens during the fair.
I want to thank Al Saperstein, MaryLou Roberts and Emily Woudenberg for joining me at the Brewster Conservation Day in July.
The Master Gardeners held the third "Evening in the Garden" Program this past week at the Demonstration Garden another success and again a big thanks to all those that spoke and to those that came to help out.
The Lower Cape Children's Garden had their open house this past week, a great opportunity to see the hard work of the volunteers and the kids. The gardens looked great, and it sounds like everyone is having a good time. Thanks again to all those that make this such a great program.
I hope you are all looking forward to the Master Gardener Picnic which is coming up shortly, August 24 12:00-2:00pm at Taylor Bray Farm in Yarmouthport. This is a great spot to relax and enjoy your fellow Master Gardeners. Also, don't forget to bring your favorite tomato for the Tomato Tasting Contest.
The deadline for applications for the Master Gardener Trainee Class of 2014 is coming up shortly, September 1, 2013. Please make sure you spread the word and encourage your friends to apply. Program overview and applications can be found at http://www.capecodextension.org/horticulture-entomology-ticks/
The Horticulture Clinic has some open shifts in the coming weeks, if you would like to volunteer for a shift please contact Chris St. Pierre at 508-375-6638 or cstpierre@barnstablecounty.org. See the attached schedule to view gaps.
Lastly, we are coming up on the end of the busy season and I have been receiving many questions about the volunteer hour reporting. I am in the process of trying to create an easier way to access the form as many of you had problems with opening the form from an email. At this time please keep track of your hours, while I work the kinks out with the form.
Thanks and enjoy the great weather!
