The Casual Goat Family Farm is a new, small backyard farm in East Falmouth with goats, ducks, chickens, meat rabbits, pigs and of course a lot of vegetables and herbs. The Alves Family began their adventures in farming when they had their three children and wanted to raise them with an appreciation of self-sufficiency and a knowledge of where food comes from. With that in mind, The Casual Goat will be hosting a new 4-H group on their farm beginning this June for children ages 5-7. The club is called The Waquoit Junior Farmers 4-H Club and will focus on farm animal care, gardening, building, community service and reading. Caroline Alves is a local English teacher and will run the group. If you have children this age or know anyone who might be interested, please come to an informational session held on Monday June 3 from 4:30-6pm at the Barnstable County Fair Grounds or email with questions at thecasualgoat@gmail.com.
