Tech Tip
Tuning and Calibration for Alarmed Carrier PDS
FSI's SecurLAN® 508 (Model SL508) Alarm Processor Unit was developed specifically for use in alarmed carrier Protective Distribution Systems (PDS). Tuning and calibration of the SecurLAN APU must take into account the unique security detection requirements of indoor facilities.

Fiber SenSys, Inc. (FSI) has constructed a new, easy-to-use Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows for straightforward integration of specific FSI Alarm Processing Units (APUs) with external software. Available for use by industry partners, the Device SDK provides an Application Programming Interface (API) for locating, connecting to, changing settings, and monitoring FD3xx and FD5xx Alarm Processing Units (APUs) across a TCP/IP network. Convenient and customizable, the Device SDK includes diverse monitoring notifications and Net 4.0 components.
"In today's security technology environment, alternatives for integrated security platforms represents a new generation of interoperability," said Edward Tapanes, FSI CEO. "With the Device SDK, security industry head-end, camera management and other platforms can easily communicate with the FSI APU's with TCP/IP network communications."

FSI Achieves "Acceptability For Use" Status in U.S. Air Force PDS Applications
Fiber SenSys has announced that the U.S. Air Force has successfully evaluated and approved FSI's HC508 and SL508™ Alarm Processor Units. The new device, most recently highlighted in our February FSI Connection edition following approval by the U.S. Army/U.S. Navy, supports Department of Defense (DOD) Protected Distribution Systems (PDS) solutions for the Alarmed Carrier. Both the co-branded Fiber SenSys/Holocom HC508 and SL508 provide an additional layer of protection to hardened carrier protective distribution systems for government and other high-security networks. USAF technical authority activity relates directly to technology solutions that are Acceptable for Use in PDS applications. "In the current sequestration and reduced U.S. Government budget environment, we are pleased to offer a low-cost path to Air Force PDS compliance," said Tony Cardo, FSI's Manager of Business Development. "Considering the high cost of encryption and other marketplace factors, we have demonstrated that inexpensive physical protection of the network is achievable with the new APUs." Individuals requiring approvability for specific Alarmed Carrier PDS projects should contact the appropriate USAF CTTA office. For more information, contact info@fibersensys.com
