FSI Introduces New Microwave Sensor

(North & South America Customers Only)

Fiber md1 SenSys  is pleased to announce a new line of Microwave Intrusion Detection Systems for volumetric perimeter security protection. The MD5xxx Microwave Defender offers leading-edge, high-performance digital technology or low-cost analog microwave technology, combined with digital signal processing (DSP).

Microwave technology is used to complement fiber-optic fence perimeter security and is particularly valuable for areas where the use of fences is either not available or practical (i.e., airport taxiways or other open areas). Deployed in transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) unit pairs, the Microwave Defender is ideal for protecting high-risk sites, such as nuclear power plants, military bases, petro-chemical sites, and correctional facilities.

The MD5xxx detects intruders walking, running, crawling, or rolling, and records all alarm events on the unit. FSI's microwave intrusion detection products are immune to rapid temperature gradation, and provide continuous environmental monitoring.

"Enhanced perimeter protection requirements for all vertical markets represents an opportunity to offer microwave security solutions designed with cost savings and efficiency in mind", said Ed Tapanes, FSI CEO. "The security marketplace has moved to an integrated technology architecture, and volumetric sensors are an important product development feature."

Accu-Tech Partnership

Accu-Tech

To better serve the U.S. perimeter security marketplace, Fiber SenSys has created a sales and marketing partnership with distribution company Accu-Tech, leading supplier of solutions for the structured cabling industry. With a strong focus in security technology, Accu-Tech is dedicated to delivering products from the top manufacturers in the security industry, and joins forces with FSI to provide and jointly market comprehensive perimeter security solutions.  The partnership benefits from Accu-Tech's 35 strategically positioned stocking facilities across the country.

Plans call for development of coordinated end-to-end solutions prominently featuring Fiber SenSys together with other top security product manufacturers, all distributed and promoted by Accu-Tech.  End users and integrators will have the assurance that each of the product lines are top quality and fully tested, and will receive the best in factory support.

Fiber SenSys is working closely with Accu-Tech to develop complete solutions that will best serve end users and integrators, and the approach will allow FSI to take advantage of its full product line: fiber-optic sensors, as well as microwave sensors and lighting solutions.  Fiber SenSys has provided in-depth training for the Accu-Tech Regional Security Specialists (RSS) and sales teams. Accu-Tech is also creating a website solution portal for this technology integration.

The two companies share many of the same philosophies and values, according to Duane Thompson, FSI Sales Manager. Each was looking for a strategic partner, willing to creatively and jointly market to the industry. Thompson finds the excitement expressed by Accu-Tech when discussing potential plans to be infectious, and is enthusiastic about the new partnership. "It's a relationship of opportunity and development," says Thompson.

Tech-Tip

SC3-C Cable / Conduit Measurement

Perimeter security Intrusion Detection Systems are only as good as their interlinking parts. And perimeter fencing and FSI's Alarm Processing Units (APU's) are only as good as the cable that connects them. Our popular SC-3 sensing cable provides proven consistent, effective sensitivity for our APU's when correctly implemented.
