Here are some useful homeopathic remedies for First-Aid application....to soothe your itchy and burning skin. Topically, apply homeopathic eczema & psoriasis creams, aloe vera ointments and soothe your skin with an oatmeal bath.


The skin intensely burns and itches! Inflamed eruptions that are worse from any warmth and worse from bathing. All affected areas may be red, with scaling or crusted skin. Has to scratch until the skin bleeds. The eruptions can be either dry or moist. This remedy can be helpful for people who have repeatedly used medications and ointments without success. People feel internally very hot, want their feet uncovered during the night, or children will take off their socks and clothes, as they easily feel overheated. In order to avoid any aggravation, start with a very low potency. You can always increase the strength or potency at a later stage. I suggest potency 6, one tablet morning and evening for one month (for adults) For children, one tablet daily only for 2 weeks. If in doubt, contact my practice Medica Nova.

I have used this remedy successfully with children countless of times. Look out for the specific signs here! The skin here is very tough or leathery with cracks and soreness. The areas behind the ears or around the mouth, between the fingers or hands are often cracked, with a golden oozing discharge that hardens into crusts. Newborns or toddlers display a distinct oozing and crusty eruption behind the ear or around the earlobe. Itching is worse from getting warm in bed. Administer like the remedy Sulphur above.

Here, the person is really anxious, restless and wants everything neat and in order. The skin is dry, itches, and burns intensely. The emphasis here is very much on the burning aspect!. Scratching can make the itching worse, and applying heat will bring relief. Look out for indigestion with burning pain and a general feeling of chilliness or feeling cold.

Here the skin can get easily infected! Children as adults are prone to a more heavy and larger body, perspire easily, especially around the back of the head. The hands and feet feel cold and clammy. The skin itches in cold air. Burning itching as from nettles before going to sleep. Itch-like vesicles between fingers and in bends of elbows. This remedy is a great for children, if indicated.

The skin shows itchy blisters with a corrosive fluid. It becomes red, raw and inflamed and eruptions can be seen at the margins of the hair, bends of joints or behind the ears. There can be flaky dry crusts. The person craves more salty food and is really thirsty. Especially indicated if the eruptions appeared after suppressed emotions, like long-standing grief and sadness. So sad, one can not cry! People with this constitution, do not like to stay in the sun for too long, they prefer shade.

The person who needs this remedy often experiences a strong anxiety, especially in the stomach. There are intensely itching eruptions which initially start as blisters, then ooze and form thick crusts. The scratching can finally lead to a thickened skin. Cold applications are often beneficial.

Here the skin is extremely dry and tends to crack, especially on the fingertips and palms. The eczema is much worse in the winter and you will see deep cracks that often bleed. Think of a battered hand of a construction worker with deep cracks and soreness. I have seen patients covering their hands with gloves as the bleeding cracks hurt so much. Washing the hands under water makes it all just so much worse again. Itching is worse at night and from getting warm in bed.

The eruptions are very blister like, red and swollen. Think of a poison-oak rash! The blisters have a more herpes-like appearance. The itching is better from hot applications. Great remedy also for shingles and chickenpox! In adults, there often can be seen muscle stiffness which is relieved by warmth and continued movement.
