Dear Patient and Friends of Medica Nova

Angelika Welcome to Spring!

I hope by now your energy reservoirs have been fully restored again and that you are ready to embrace with joy and passion your unfolding life!

This month, I would like to share with you the importance of a healthy GASTRO-INTESTINAL TRACT, the very part of your body which nurtures you through and through. If depleted or isn't able to function at its optimal level, it is the very culprit and beginning of all your diseases.

In my daily clinical practice, I can confirm that about 95% of all patients are displaying a depleted digestive system. What happens in your gut determines your health today! We often only refer to our digestive system when we are plagued with symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease, just to mention few...but don't be fooled, your Hashimoto Disease to your Rheumatoid Arthritis, in fact all diseases are caused and/or affected by an imbalanced digestive system.

To meet this challenge, MEDICA NOVA offers you the most advanced and finest G.I. WELLNESS, so you can enjoy in PEACE and JOY the Beauty of Life!
Here at MEDICA NOVA, I am working on a Correspondence Course which will be available (late summer) via my website and selected universities.

MARCH THEME: NURTURE ME & THE PLANET
CULTIVATE A HEALTHY DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
"NURTURE YOURSELF"
All illness starts with your DIGESTION - or lack of it. Your digestive system is the very first entrance door of your present and future diseases in your life. Our food is our medicine and our medicine is our food. A simple statement, so often overlooked, yet with profound repercussions on our health. Because what we choose to eat today will show up tomorrow as the picture of our health. Poor digestion or an imbalanced diet is the start and end of the self-feeding Toxic Stress Cycle within our body. Simply put, what you eat determines your life and your death.

When was the last time you sat down at the table feeling a sense of wonder by looking at the intense green of a slightly steamed broccoli or smelling the intoxicating aroma of a fresh ginger root? When was the last time you remember taking the time to chew and taste your food?
When was the last time you remember enjoying a Sunday morning breakfast with your friends? When was the last time you remember stuffing yourself with a sandwich while rushing to get the next train home from work?

Our fast and over-stimulated lives, prima- rily focused on speed, time, and production, do not allow us to live in synchronicity with the body or the digestive system. Did you know that your digestive system is really a nervous system, encased by the general nervous system and autonomic nervous system? What ever you feel affects your stomach, intestines and/or colon.

Imbalances of this system are mainly created by a general lack of enzymes, improper chewing, the lack of nerve flow from the spine, organs pushing or impinging on each other, or improper food combinations from either too much food or poor food choices. An irregular eating schedule, for example, where one eats late at night, can also produce imbalance. Not to mention the exposure of chemical food, additives, overprescribed medication, excessive use of microwaves, fried foods, and drinking excessive beverages with meals. All these factors, and many more, can cause the production of toxins, which are then passed on to the overall system, including the blood stream, to result in major stress to the tissues within the body.

In the COLON, incomplete digestion, as well as toxic overload, results in the FERMENTATION and PUTREFACTION of food particles - that is, your food starts to rot in your body. When our bowel flora colonizes with the most beneficial bacterial cultures these situations are usually resolved, yet in today's world even these natural processes have become severely out of balance.

Our colon's flora should be around 85% beneficial bacteria, such as lactobacillus, bifidus, bulgaricus and other strains, and around 15% potentially harmful bacteria, such as coliform, streptococcus, and so forth. However, due to our unhealthy diet and overuse of antibiotics, most often this ratio is now reversed, leaving us with 85% harmful bacteria and only 15% beneficial bacteria.

Our imbalanced intestinal bowel flora influences diseases like DYSBIOSIS, a condition of microbial bowel imbalance, which can lead to the now common LEAKY GUT SYNDROME, and other manmade diseases of today's over-stimulated lifestyle.

To be part of a healthy and efficient digestive system requires the best nutrition comprised of a balanced ratio of proteins, carbohydrates, and oils in the form of organic and fresh produce.

MEDICA NOVA offers two superb programs which not only will cleanse and heal, but also will re-build your entire digestive system again.

 STEP ONE
G.I PATHOGEN PURGE PROGRAM

This program helps the body to remove excessive pathogens, like disease-causing bacteria, yeast / fungal forms, virus, mycotoxins, the absorption / removal of pathogenic waste, as well as enzymatic "house cleaning". It is essential in the healing of LEAKY GUT SYNDROME and correcting DYSBIOSIS. Selected botanicals and enzymes are utilized to drive off pathogens so that beneficial species can proliferate again. Practically everyone needs this preparatory step of removing the initial intestinal toxicity.
Please note: This program is not your familiar colon cleanse...it is so much more!

STEP TWO
G.I WELLNESS PROGRAM

Following the G.I Pathogen Purge, it is important to prepare the terrain and "re-seed" beneficial probiotic cultures so that they dominate the intestinal ecology. This program provides state-of-the-art, critically important advantages to this process. Here is a program that prepares and supports the gastro-intestinal terrain so that beneficial species can colonize and recolonize again.

YOUR EMOTIONS FEED YOUR ENTIRE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Digestive imbalances are often caused by emotional disturbances, as revealed by our chosen language and verbal expressions in describing them. We state our likes and dislikes as "This is not to my taste"
or our aggressive behavior as "I am getting my teeth into it" or facing unbearable situations as "I find this hard to swallow." A grieving person experiences a lump in the throat; a depressed person might say, "This is hard to digest." An introvert might swallow his anger or someone very upset might say, "I am getting eaten up inside."

The basic tendency to withhold our feelings and aggressions and turn them inward and against us can lead to the degeneration of stomach issue or an ulcer.

Rather than expressing our emotions freely, we are often digesting ourselves!

Interestingly...the DIGESTIVE SYSTEM can be compared to the way the brain works. The brain takes in external stimulants and digests them so we can receive its filtered information via our consciousness. The DIGESTIVE SYSTEM takes in external stimulants, like food, and breaks it down into suitable particles, which can then be assimilated back into our system. Here, the digestive system focuses on tangible substances, the discrimination of beneficial or toxic elements, the assimilation of beneficial material, as well as the excretion, or elimination, of waste products. Both processes are really quite similar.

Ask yourself:
What is eating you up? What issue is so difficult to swallow? What I am so sour about?

If we leave the stomach and go further along the intestines, we might find the individual suffering from diarrhea saying: "I feel scared shitless", only to describe his emotional status and his physical symptom. It is therefore essential to treat the whole person rather than the presenting symptom alone.

And how about somebody who suffers from chronic constipation who says: "I can't let go off this dreadful relationship!" Or the diabetic with an inability to produce insulin or assimilate sugar who has difficulty enjoying the sweetness of life and is therefore in need of compensating with some substitute "sweetness."

A HEALTHY DIGESTIVE SYSTEM STARTS IN YOUR MOTHER'S WOMB

New research studies have shown that as newborns find their way through the mother's birth canal during the birthing process, they gather beneficial bacteria via the placenta and the vagina's skin that colonize the mother's digestive system in the womb. Although identified as "bacteria" these MICROBES are uniquely designed for the well-being of the newborn's life, serving, for example, as precursors for the baby's healthy and fully functional digestive system.

Our cells and we are not designed to live in isolation; we never have been. Today, we are aware that the totality of MICROBES, called MICRBIOME, which represent genetic elements interacting within a particular environment, from the digestive system to the soil, seawater and freshwater, are vital parts of a symbiotic and self-sustaining totality, within our bodies or the planet as a whole. Here, one ecosystem serves and feeds the other. Bacterial mutual relationships are crucial for our survival, and an IMBALANCED GUT FLORA can lead to a number of different disorders.

We are dependent on these microbiomes to help digest our food, produce certain vitamins, regulate our immune system, and keep us healthy by protecting us against other disease-causing bacteria.

Imbalances have been linked to various disorders from IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME to OBESITY. Altered microbiomes may even have an effect on PERSONALITY and AUTISM.
