I Eat Little Green Leprechauns!
|
We hope you are ready for St. Patrick's Day and haven't had one of those terrible cold bugs that are floating around! There are surprises in this newsletter in the form of pictures. A number of our furkids dressed up for the green day!
In the last couple weeks Joker, who was at our facility for almost four years, went to his new home. It took a hat on Bing for him to also go to his new home after almost four years! If it takes dressing them up to find them awesome homes, then that is what we will do.
It only takes a quick search on the Internet to see all the awesome homeless pets that need homes. If we were a kill facility or only in rescue work for the money, we would be passing out pets rather than adopting them out. It's not easy to adopt from us because we put our hearts into saving these lives.
Why adopt from us? You may return the pet should it not work out, (in fact, we insist on it) and we refund your donation. We train the pets and can even tell you how the pet likes their baths! When returned, the pet will not be killed. Our pets are all spayed or neutered, microchipped (registered), vaccinated, wormed and have dentals (if needed), at a reduced fee. We can tell you the temperament of the pet and want the adoption to be a happy experience and valued member of your family for years to come.
Another application has been approved for another long-timer so our paws are crossed that our pets keep finding their forever homes so we can save more lives.
Our special ones would not be alive without your help. We are VERY grateful for the opportunity to save them, THANK YOU!
Hugs, Purrs & Slurps, Linda York, President

Hot Cars and Loose Pets
 It is finally getting warm outside and with it comes hot cars. EVERY summer pets die when left inside a hot car.
Brutus, Duke, Coco, Lola and Jake...sure, they're fairly common pet names, but they're also the names of just a few of the pets that died last year because they were left in cars on warm (and not necessarily hot) days while their owners were shopping, visiting friends or family, or running errands. What's so tragic is that these beloved pets were simply the victims of bad judgment.
Want numbers? An independent studyshowed that the interior temperature of vehicles parked in outside temperatures ranging from 72 to 96° F rose steadily as time increased. And cracking the windows doesn't help.
| Elapsed time | Temperature rise inside vehicle | | 10 minutes | 19°F | | 20 minutes | 29°F | | 30 minutes | 34°F | | 60 minutes | 43°F | | 1 to 2 hours | 45-50°F |

...add to that the fact that most pets are not properly restrained while in the car, and you've got some dangerous situations - for people and pets alike.
Unrestrained pets can be seriously or fatally injured, or could even hurt you, in a collision or sudden braking situation. In addition, they're a distraction for the driver, which increases the risk of driver errors. According to a 2010 American Automobile Association (AAA) survey, 2 out of 3 owners engage in distracting behaviors (playing with, feeding or petting their dog, or letting their dog
Please don't become another statistic: only take your pets in the vehicle with you when you absolutely need to, and always properly restrain your pets while in the vehicle.
How can you help prevent these injuries and deaths?
- Learn more about keeping your pet safe during travel;
- Set a good example by leaving your pet(s) at home except when you need to have them in the vehicle;
- Set a good example by always properly restraining your own pet(s) while in a vehicle;
- Educate clients, family and friends about these issues and how they can keep their pet(s) safe;
- Download and distribute our posters to help educate pet owners about the dangers of hot vehicles and lack of restraints.

BEWARE!! And Other Stories....
Please forward to family and friends who have dogs
Sylvia http://www.k9instinct.com/blog/the-benefits-of-bone-broth-for-dogs WHAT IS BONE BROTH?
Bone broth is essentially the nutrient-dense stock liquid made from simmering raw or cooked bones at low heat over long periods of time. This oily broth is packed full of amino acids, vitamins and minerals and is considered a nutrition powerhouse for dogs! Bone broth is especially ideal for sick dogs and senior dogs, as it is extremely easy to digest and is soothing for the gut. Although this healthy broth can be given to help dogs heal and stay strong, it also works as an excellent raw multivitamin supplement for any dog at any age! Click the link above to read more......

Euthanasia or Healthy Living, You make the Decision http://www.examiner.com/article/euthanasia-or-healthy-living-you-make-the-decision
In today's climate of chronic disease and extreme vet bills, many people are making the decision to euthanize their pets. Reunion Rescue has long practiced homeopathic and herbal support with a raw organic diet. We rescue animals with all kinds of ailments from heartworm to cancer, flea and tick infestation, hip dysplasia to skin and kidney issues. At Reunion Rescue, we've rarely met the animal who could not be saved.
When Love Fades!
Last night I was sitting on the sofa watching TV.
When I heard my wife's voice from the kitchen ask...
"What would you like for dinner, my love? Chicken, Beef or Lamb?"
I said, "Thank you, dear, I think I'll have chicken."
She replied , "You're having soup, ass****. I was talking to the dog!"

The Green Comes Out!
The following pets are homeless and looking for GOOD homes.

We disagree with Kay Jewelers. We would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Light than Kay. Our kisses begin with pets!

From Our Hearts To Yours...
Hi Linda, I thought I would let you know that we lost Winston a couple of months ago. He had a long and very happy life beginning with my mom and dad and ending with me and his brothers Toby and Conner. Toby followed Winston to the dog park in the sky last month. The best I can figure is that Winston was anywhere from 14 to 16 and Toby was 17 when they passed. They were best buddies. He was blind and couldn't hear by the time we lost him but he was still such a lover once you had him in your lap. Mom and Dad were so happy with him and he added so much joy to their lives. He also charmed everyone in the retirement complex they lived in! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to those animals out there who don't have pampered lives and for striving to find them forever families who will pamper them the way they deserve.
Belva
Belva, Of course, we remember Winston when he was adopted in 2002. He was one of a number of pets turned into us while we participated in the local parade. Our telephone answering machine was FULL from people wanting to bring us their pets before we even got home.
Winston's "family" walked up to us after the parade and handed us his leash saying he was only a 4-H project! It didn't take us long to figure out our hard work walking in a parade was not productive and we QUIT! We also learned about 4-H projects!
We have had people POUNDING on our door at 9 P.M. on Thanksgiving evening stating we HAD to take their dog.....ggrrrrr! So much for advertising! It is said that you can't fix stupid and the world is FULL of STUPID!! (Not meant for our AWESOME supporters and adopters! LOL)
THANK YOU for giving Winston such a wonderful life.
