We would like to send a very Happy Thanksgiving wish your way! Your outpouring of condolences after the loss of my Dad was overwhelming. The sympathy cards, flowers, donations to care for his cat, Blackie, has been most appreciated. As we continue to care for our Mother and the pets in our care, please keep us in your prayers. Prayers are also needed for those devastated by the tornadoes in the last few days. Our hearts are with them. We would especially like to give thanks to our wonderful friends who make saving innocent little lives like Ben and Becky possible. We simply couldn't do this without you. A BIG THANK YOU!
Have a Happy Blessed Thanksgiving,
Linda York, President

Farewell Dear, Dear Friend
We are sad to report we have lost one of our longest long-time friends. Bev Mueller was our photographer and supporter for seventeen years. Bev won countless awards for her photography skills. The picture on the left shows some of her skills. Sadly, the last of our "six pack", Festus, (with a hat on, sitting next to the cart) passed away two weeks before Bev. Being a stray, we were never sure of his age but guess he was around 17 years old. Farwell DEAR friends, till we meet again.

One of our rescue dogs recently was diagnosed with this parasite. Since it is not seen too often (in my experience anyway), I thought I'd share it.

from our mail box: NEW YORK (AP) -- There's extensive evidence that pigs are as smart and sociable as dogs. Yet one species is afforded affection and respect; the other faces mass slaughter en route to becoming bacon, ham and pork chops. Seeking to capitalize on that discrepancy, animal-welfare advocates are launching a campaign called The Someone Project that aims to highlight research depicting pigs, chickens, cows and other farm animals as more intelligent and emotionally complex than commonly believed. The hope is that more people might view these animals with the same empathy that they view dogs, cats, elephants, great apes and dolphins. "When you ask people why they eat chickens but not cats, the only thing they can come up with is that they sense cats and dogs are more cognitively sophisticated that the species we eat -- and we know this isn't true," said Bruce Friedrich of Farm Sanctuary, the animal-protection and vegan-advocacy organization that is coordinating the new project. full story: http://www.wtop.com/628/3403923/Some-Pigs from our mail box:

Your dog will LOVE this GREAT company. Here's what they had to say:
Hi pup-saver! You got it - November and December are the easiest months to raise money for your organization with BarkBoxes! They make great gifts for the pup of the house. We want to make it even easier, so you can raise as much money as you can this month. Here's the plan: Thursday, November 28th to Monday, December 2nd (Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday) Coupon codes will be good for $10 off, instead of $5 off! Double the discount for your fans, followers and friends. In addition, we'll also be donating an extra $500 to the organization with the most redemptions over this period. Special Thanks!
by Linda York A special shout out to Henry who built some cat trees for our kitties. It was so sweet of you to spend the time making them. The cat trees are awesome! Late this evening we found out a cat tested positive for rabies only two miles from Pet Pals. The family cat attacked the husband and he had to strangle it to remove it from his arm. Now the cat is dead and the man has to start rabies shots. Getting the cat a simple ten or fifteen dollar rabies vaccination would have prevented this.... how sad. I would also like to give a special thanks to our dear friends who have been so patient when e-mails go unanswered and phone calls are slow to be returned. I think the WORLD of you.... just not enough time to sit here at the computer. You're welcome to take care of my Mother!! ;-)

YOU have made our work of love possible, THANK YOU!
Unlike the larger organizations, Pet Pals, Inc. is NOT being funded by any source other than by donations & receives no government assistance. Nobody receives any wages and we are STRICTLY a no-kill facility. When asked what we would do if we got in an extremely aggressive dog, our quick answer is, "We work with them!" We are truly grateful for your support to continue helping the dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and birds! Special thanks to our awesome donors. YOU are the BEST!
