My children are getting older, but I am not (at least that is what I would like to think). This month's featured article talks about how being concerned about our parents' safety is often seen as an attempt at taking away their independence.
The second article highlights the requirement to qualify medically before being permitted to purchase long term care insurance.

Taking the Car Keys & Other Indignities
We start out as infants totally dependent upon adults for our very survival. As time goes by, we gradually become more independent. We learn how to walk, tie our own shoe laces, interact socially, and then, in what seems like the blink of an eye, we learn to drive a car. Regardless of how much you may be willing to pay for long term care insurance, no company will sell it to you unless you qualify medically. The following is a sampling of uninsurable health conditions taken from one carrier's actual underwriting guide:

A plan to pay for Long Term Care services is not a financial plan. But a financial plan that does not address long term care can not be a complete financial plan. |
