My new Windows 7 computer arrived on Friday.  It is fast, and dust-free, and the hard drive can store more documents than I can possibly create in a lifetime.  But oy vey!  What a job transitioning from the old one.  Brad Carstens, my absolutely excellent computer guy was here four hours on Saturday helping set things up.  Then on Monday I spent an hour on the phone with a woman in India who was finally able to transfer my complex database...the database that allows me to send this eNewsletter to you..from the old to the new computer.

You may be asking: "What has this got to do with long term care"?  Well today I can deal with it...can actually sit at the keyboard and write this note.  Then I can take a break and walk Muffin, my four-legged assistant and best furry friend.  Later, my wife and I can enjoy a nice dinner.  I know the day will come when I cannot do these things without s great deal of assistance.  I hope that day is later, rather than sooner.  But I know it will come for me as it will for most of us.  On that day I will need long term care services.  The planning I have done will carry me through...as I hope your planning will do for you.

Why Not Rely on Medisomething???

You meant to say "Medicare"...Medicare does not pay for long term care.  Or maybe you meant "Medicaid".  Medicaid is a government Welfare program.  To qualify, you must be left with very few assets and little income.  Most Medicaid long term care then happens in nursing homes, not peoples' own homes...which is where most want to be.

A plan to pay for Long Term Care services is not a financial plan.  But a financial plan that does not address long term care can not be a complete financial plan.
Sincerely,
