It's April, so it's time to spring into a healthy lifestyle (and just in time for summer!). April weather, especially in Texas, is the perfect excuse to get outside and be active. Whether it's riding your bike, walking with a neighbor, or going for a run-use the good weather to find a new springy routine.

Not only does April mark the true beginning of Spring (and the end of school!), but it is also the month of World Health Day. On April 7th the whole world joins together to celebrate health and healthy living. Why not join in on the action? The seventh day of April can be the day you try a recipe from the brand new clean eating cookbook you just bought, run two miles instead of one, or even just use one sugar packet in your coffee instead of two. Your celebration of World Health Day can be something as small as those aforementioned actions, or you can resolve to make the day a start of a new you. Maybe that means cooking more or exercising with
friends-whatever World Health Day may mean to you, make it count!

It may take some time to really get comfortable with new healthy habits, but it is definitely worth a shot. You only need twenty-one days to form a habit, so there is more than enough time to shape a healthy new one in April that will last you all the way through the year.

The perfect spring recipe from my new favorite cookbook, Clean Slate.

White Peach and Heirloom Tomato Salad

2 ripe white peaches (pitted  and sliced)
2 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced
1/4 of small red onion, thinly sliced
2 Tbls fresh basil, torn (leave some for garnish)
2 Tbls crumbled ricotta salata
Coarse sea salt and freshly ground pepper
Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling.
Arrange peach and tomato slices on a platter. Top with red onion, basil, and ricotta salt.  Season with salt and pepper, drizzle with olive oil and garnish with basil.                                                     Serve immediately.
