Hope 2012 is getting off to a good start for all of you. The NNA State Board had a successful retreat in Henderson. I look forward to a great year for NNA!
  
The State Board of Directors held a meet and greet reception at the start of the retreat to get acquainted with NNA members and the community. It was well-attended and a good event. Plans are underway to hold a similar event following Nurses Day at the Legislature. I will send details when they become available.

NNA Member Survey

The NNA Board of Directors is conducting a member survey. The Board realizes that the experience and expertise of our members is our greatest strength, and they are hoping to tap into this resource for meetings, legislative testimony, and your help in being the voice of nursing.

NNA District 1 Accepting Applications for Scholarships
NNA District 1 is pleased to announce that they will be presenting two $1000 nursing scholarships to NNA District 1 members this year. One is for an RN to BSN student and one for a student in an advanced degree program. Click here for details
Nurse Appreciation Day at the Reno Bighorns
The second annual Nurse Appreciation Day at the Reno Bighors will take place on February 24. We hope you can join the Nevada Nurses Association in celebrating nurses at the Reno Bighorns game.

 

There will be special in-game recognition of all nursing professionals & students in attendance. The event will feature Nikki Johnston, Student Nurse, singing the National Anthem, "Building A Better You" presented by St. Mary's Health Care, health promotion posters, raffle prizes and much more!

Nominations Open for Northern Nevada Nurses of Achievement Awards
Nominations are open for the Northern Nevada Nurses of Achievement awards until January 31. Nurses can be nominated in a number of categories including Critical Care Nursing, Rookie of the year, Medical/Surgical, Maternal Child, Advance Practice, Community Health, Education, Innovation, Leadership, LPN's, Lifetime Achievement, Long Term Care/Rehabilitation, Office/Outpatient, Patient Advocacy. The committee also acknowledges those nurses who have passed away in the previous year. Do you know a nurse who has made a special contribution in one these areas? Consider nominating him/her.
