Novovirus Toolkit Available |
Nevada State Health and Human Services released this information:
"In August, 2012, the Office of Public Health Informatics and Epidemiology released the newly created Norovirus Management Toolkit: Outbreak Preparedness & Response. The toolkit was written for skilled nursing facilities. The Toolkit is a 28-page document that issues the standard Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for surveillance, prevention and management of norovirus outbreaks. What makes it unique is that it adds an emergency fundamental - the Planning "P." The Planning "P" is an Incident Command System (ICS) tool that can be used to develop an Outbreak Action Plan, which can effectively mitigate the effects of norovirus outbreaks in facilities. The Planning "P" uses cycles of objectives, planning and briefing meetings, which can provide a specific response focus to managing the outbreak.
