Chang: A Drama if the Wilderness
Chang (elephant) is the first drama movie that was shot in Laos in 1925, filmmakers attempted to capture real life with their cameras; tigers, leopards and other animals involved were wild, as the herd of elephants.

In this documentary set in the jungles of Siam, farmer Kru lives with his family, pet goat, a gibbon ape and a water buffalo. Kru's harvesting is disrupted by a leopard attacking the goat and, later, a tiger killing the water buffalo. Kru and the villagers band together to destroy the animals, only to be attacked by the "chang," or elephants. After half of the village is destroyed, Kru and the men round up the elephants, then realize they can use them as labor for restoring their rice fields.

The Sanctuary Hotel and Victoria Xiengthong offer a free projection every evening at 19:00, setup in the garden of the hotel where you can enjoy cocktails and snacks.

Sanctuary Nam Ngum Resort offers Beach-like atmosphere on the Lake

As you know, Laos does not have direct access to the sea. This new resort, located at Nam Ngum Lake, offers visitors a similar atmosphere to a beach resort, with its 23 bungalows overlooking the lake, sandy beaches, floating swimming pool and activities such a kayaking, paddle boating or boat tours around the islands on the lake.

We recommend a stay of 2 nights or more at Sanctuary Nam Ngum (40 minutes drive from Vang Vieng) to relax before ending in the capital, Vientiane, to depart Laos.

Passenger Train Services to resume between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville
Passenger trains will begin services again between the capital and the coast next month for the first time in 14 years, providing an alternative for travelers to the current 3-4 hour road trip.

Royal Railway plans to run passenger trains along the 226 kilometer "Southern Line" from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville starting in April, just before the Khmer New Year (April 13-16) in the hope that road traffic will be reduced during this holiday period.

The trains can carry aroud 400 people in five carriages divided by class, with regular carriages cooled by fans and plush VIP carriages offering air-conditioning.
The journey will take around eight hours averaging 33 km/h, with ticket prices yet to be determined - though, the aim is to make it cheaper than the bus service.

Oeun Tith said in addition to launching regular passenger trains in April, the company also intends to offer a private charter service where client can rent the train for private tours to enjoy the scenery along the way to Sihanoukville.

Asia World Group Opens New Yangon Airport Terminal
Asia World Group has opened the first phase of a new airport terminal in Yangon that will be capable of handing up to 20 million passengers a year when complete, with US fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken the first international restaurant confirmed to open in the new space.

Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (YACL), an Asia World subsidiary, built the airport in less than two years, completing the project in time to be claimed as one of the final achievements of the outgoing administration. U Thein Sein opened the terminal, which will be known as T1, on March 12, in one of his last public appearances as president as his five-year term draws to a close.

Myanmar Airways International, the recently rebranded national carrier, will be the first to move into the new terminal, officials said, with the airline's maiden departure scheduled for March 20.

Yangon's existing international terminal, which is also managed by Asia World Group, will be rebranded as Terminal 2. Work on a new domestic terminal has already begun and plans are being drawn up for an "airport city" comprising a cultural centre, hotels, commercial and retail space.
Thailand
Photo opportunity - '1,600 Pandas+' land in Thailand
March and April 2016 will see Thailand taken over by 1,600 cuddly pandas!

Aside from being an amazingly cute photo op, these papier mache figurines are part of a global art project that aims to raise awareness for panda conservation, organized by French artist Paulo Grangeon and WWF Thailand, a non-profit organization that not only helps protect pandas but also other extinct species.

Made out of recycled materials and eco-friendly paint, each individual panda on display represents the shockingly low number of pandas currently left in the wild: 1,600.

'1,600 Pandas+' have been around the world and are now landing in the "Land of Smiles." Central Embassy will take them on their newest adventure around Thailand for the first time. Each one of these loveable pandas has their own character and expressions to show off their personalities.
They've touched down in Thailand to spread their very important message for the WWF-Thailand on how vital environmental preservation is.
