By Train:  Saigon is easily accessible by train from most major cities in Vietnam.  The train from Nha Trang Saigon takes around 7 hours, and from Hanoi to Saigon takes around 34 hours.  The nearby beach town of Phan Thiet (Mui Ne) is just 3.5 hours from Saigon by train.

ABOUT SAIGON - THE CITY

Ho Chi Minh City, commonly known as Saigon, is a city in southern Vietnam famous for the pivotal role it played in the Vietnam War. It's also known for its French colonial architecture, including Notre-Dame Basilica, made entirely of materials imported from France, and the neoclassical Saigon Central Post Office. Food stalls line the city's streets, especially around bustling Ben Thanh Market.

Ho Chi Minh city is the most populous city as well as an important center of economics, culture and education of Vietnam. On the basis of the existing urban area, the Ho Chi Minh City is the largest urban in Vietnam (bigger than Hanoi). Currently, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi capital are special kinds of Vietnamese urban.

FOCUS ASIA INSIDER TOP TIPS

1.  The Deck - A fabulous restaurant next to the Saigon River.
Travel to the restaurant by road or speed boat pick up!

The restaurant is situated on the banks of the famous Saigon River, hidden and nestled - a short 15 minute journey from the city center of Ho Chi Minh. The restaurant is famous for its Pan Asian cuisine which changes weekly depending on seasonality. Seafood is flown in directly from Phu Quoc Island, vegetables from Dalat and other produce carefully selected. The menu is kept simple focusing on single ingredients and great quality. This restaurant can host groups as well as single guests and your guests can experience the river life from a different perspective. Stunning location and fabulous food.

2. The À Ố Show - A fantastic evening of circus-style entertainment.
Note: Shows start at 18:00 or 20:00 and not operated daily, please inquire with nearest Focus Asia office.

À Ố Show is a new kind of art performance commonly acknowledged globally as "contemporary circus" shown in the SAIGON opera house. The show surpasses all the limits that were previously constructed by many other art shows in Vietnam over years.

During the sixty-minute-long show, audience is gently introduced to many different  tones of emotion as some may see flashes of their own reflection through the vivid yet poetic rendering as if they are captured in a Vietnamese dream of life, survival, love and anything else in between. À Ố Show may still be within the path of pursuing perfection but it does take pride in providing an-hour-long show of peace, comfort, and serenity mixed with astonishment and joy.
