Update: Bangkok Bombing - Second explosive device thrown in capital's river
18th August 2015

Dear Travel Partners,
A second bomb has gone off in Thailand's capital city of Bangkok. Assistant National Police Chief Prawut Thawornsiri said the device was thrown from the bridge (Sathorn transit pier - a major terminal linking Chao Phraya River commuter boats and the nearby Skytrain station), but hit a pillar and bounced into the canal. Thankfully no casualties or damages have been reported from this second bombing incident.
This latest attack comes just hours after a bomb exploded near a shrine in the commercial and tourist centre of the Thai capital, which killed at least 22 people, of whom nine were foreigners including ten Thais, a Brit, a Singaporean, a Filipino and 4 Chinese citizens. The nationality of the other people killed in the attack is not yet clear. Over 120 were reported to have been injured, according to local media reports following Monday evening's blast. Whether the bomb exploded inside or outside Erawan shrine is also not yet known. It was first assumed to have been attached to a motorbike parked outside, but it has also been suggested by a police official that the bomb exploded in the shrine.
There is currently one suspect. Thai police have released an image of a man leaving the Erawan Shrine yesterday without a backpack he had earlier. At this present time, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
We will continue to monitor the situation in Bangkok and provide updates as more information emerges. If you have any questions, please contact your Sales Manager in charge.
Sincerely,
