Dear Travel Partners, Please kindly take note of the following important updates from Cambodia and Vietnam... Bopha Angkor relocates to The Terrasse des Elephants From 25th January 2015 Bopha Angkor Hotel and Restaurant will move all activities to The Terrasse des Elephants. Bopha Angkor restaurant name, service standards, menus, prices, etc. will remain the same at the new location. Bopha Angkor will re-open after renovation in 2015 on street 24, in front of The Square 24 Restaurant, close to Soria Moria Hotel. Bonsai Cruises hit by another cruise liner On 22nd January two Bonsai Cruise boats were hit full force by a foreign cruise liner that lost control while leaving the Nha Rong port. Thankfully both boats were successfully evacuated resulting in no passengers being injured. Unfortunately both boats have been damaged beyond repair, and it is unlikely that Bonsai Cruises will reopen any time soon. Therefore the Focus Asia team are working hard to transfer all passengers booked onto Bonsai Cruise boats onto alternative cruises, such as Lady Hau and Indochina Junk.
Street Food Secrets tour from Hoa Tuc, Saigon The tour begins with you being picked up and taken on the back of a motorbike to Vuon Chuoi Market in District 3. Here you will learn more about Vietnamese cuisine and its exotic ingredients.
After the market, the street food tour really begins! Starting with Banh Xeo (a crispy filled pancake that you wrap with various herbs in salad leaves with a fish sauce dip), then moving on to Banh Khot (mini pancakes, similar to Ban Xeo), ending with Bun Cha (a traditional meal from Hanoi of rice noodles, grilled pork and herbs). All will be washed down with a typical Vietnamese coffee or sugar cane juice. The tour then progresses on to District 10, to another market, before heading to a colourful flower market and pet market in District 5. After visiting a beautiful Cao Dai Temple in District 5 the last stop will be a famous Bun Bo Hue restaurant. Bun Bo Hue is a popular Vietnamese soup containing rice noodles and beef.
This tour is an excellent introduction into both local life and street food. You visit markets where foreigners are rarely seen, ride on the back of a motorbike through small alleyways and experience typical Vietnamese street food and drinks.
