Ho Chi Minh City Subway Construction Cuts Off Tourist Access
Authorities in HCMC have blocked off the section of Nguyen Hue Street in District 1 until next April, the Department of Transport has announced. The street is officially closed to traffic between Le Loi and Ton Duc Thang streets until April 28th, 2015, but Focus Asia have heard from hotels on these streets that the closure will only be until February 2015, as the main construction work will be finished by then.
The storied boulevard will reopen as a pedestrian-only street lined with hundreds of new trees and flower pots as well as the latest advanced lighting technology.
Vietjet Air launches new flight connecting Hanoi to Siem Reap
VietJet has officially revealed it will open a new route connecting Hanoi with SiemReap in Cambodia on November 3, 2014. To celebrate this announcement, VietJet has been selling tickets from just VND420,000 ($20), but standard pricing for this route has not yet been confirmed.
The Siem Reap flight will depart from Hanoi every day at 5:15pm and arrive in Siem Reap at 7:05pm. The return flight will depart Siem Reap at 8:05pm and land in Hanoi at 9:55pm. The flight duration is one hour and 50 minutes.
