The City of Altamonte Springs Special Needs Recreation and the Advisory Board for the Disabled, Inc. provide social and recreational activities at a minimal cost to the mentally and physically challenged population, ages 13 and up, in Altamonte Springs and surrounding communities.

Cheerleading
The Altamonte Sparklers are a group of male and female cheerleaders with special needs who have been training and competing since 2005. Practices are as follows:

Bowling

Practices are November 10, 17, and 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Altamonte AMF Lanes. Scores are recorded throughout the year. Cost is $2 per game and includes shoes.
 

"Voices of Joy" Trip

Registration Now Open

"Voices of Joy" is a high energy music and dance experience for audiences of all ages. Enjoy a wide variety of musical styles and genres as they share their Voices of Joy with you! This show is open to our Special Needs Recreation participants and volunteers for FREE, with transportation provided. The show is on Thursday, November 13 at Willow Creek Church in Winter Springs.

STOP (Saturday Time Out for Parents) Trips
Access-Life Expo Ocoee | November 15 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Enjoy boating, fishing, archery, crafts and more. Pick up and drop off is at Eastmonte Park. Cost is $3 per participant. Lunch is provided. Financial assistance is available. Space is limited. Please call or email to reserve your spot.

Thursday Night Out
November 20 | 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Karaoke Night is November 20. Held at Westmonte Park from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $1 per person. Light refreshments are provided. 
Note: Cooking class is canceled on November 27.
 


Ballroom Dance Showcase 

November 23 | 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.

The Orlando Chapter of USA Dance teaches more than 35 dancers with special needs how to ballroom dance. Please join us for a beautiful ballroom dance showcase which includes special guest performers. Located at Lake Brantley South Gym. Click here for more information.

Our Special Needs Belly Dancers, Troupe Moumayaza, and family members hosted their recital in October.
