Cool Congregation Challenge
November 2013
New Mexico Interfaith Power and Light
November 2013 E-Notes

fall leaves Blessings of this fall season of gratitude. I am so very grateful for the past 3 months of sabbatical, which were possible because the NMIPL board and so many volunteers kept things going while I was retreating, reflecting, reading and writing.  THANK YOU!!!

Among the many messages of my time is a theme of Love. We do the work we do because we are called by Love, We are given to Love and amazed by Love in creation and each other. Our response to care for creation and address climate change are actions infused with Love and Grace.....so let us continue forth amidst the suffering, disasters and great unknowing.

Come celebrate the work of a number of faith communities and individuals at our Annual Fall Meeting, Sunday, November 24, 3-5 at Albuquerque Mennonite Church. There will be awards, music, food, (you can pick up your Thanksgiving Pie) and much more.

Read our short notes below to get caught up on opportunities for free weatherization, Earth Sabbaths, Water Meetings.....

Much peace and grace,
Joan Brown,osf

Pope Francis comes Out on Hydro-Fracking

This week the Twitterverse went ablaze when Pope Francis met with Argentine filmmaker Fernando "Pino" Solanas (La Guerra del Fracking -- The Fracking War) and environmental activist Juan Pablo Olsson at the Vatican to discuss fracking and water pollution. Olsson posted the photo of himself, Solanas and Pope Francis with a No Fracking Message.

He reportedly told the group he "is preparing an encyclical about nature, humans, and environmental pollution."
