An Earth Day Celebration with Women of the Medicine Wheel

For millennia women honored the Great Goddess, the Goddess within, and the Goddess that is the Earth through dance, movement, meditation and song. As women of the medicine wheel, we seek to revive and enhance these traditions for modern women four times a year as the seasons and energies of the earth and heavens change, bringing healing, transformation, freedom and enlightenment.
This April under the full Pink Moon, we will gather to call in the energies of Mother Earth and the spirits of the East, of air, enlightenment, new beginnings, the Goddesses of Spring, and the vibration of the eagle. I honor my Mother, Lorraine Hankins, who was a single parent of six. On bottom right is Queen Mother Lorraine Hankins, behind her is the oldest son, Robert Hankins, Sista Shai in middle front, behind me is my next oldest sister Betty Ann Clark and behind her is the eldest sister, Mary Francis Wallace who is the mother of our Chapter's Biz Manager, Nikki Wallace, front left is middle brother Neal Hankins and behind him is Timothy Hankins is the baby boy of family. Shai is the youngest & baby girl of the family. Mom did good, we all turned out ok. She expected us to do well in life, be strong and independent and SAVE YO MONEY !! We still working on that part. LOL.. All we saw growing up watching Mom work her butt off to make ends meet. Turns out, we all grew up to be work-a-holics. Then she would complain, "Why you work so much!! LOL..In honor of Black Women's History Month, I salute my Queen Mother, Lorraine Hankins !!! a.ka. "Lolly."
So grateful for my mom who was my biggest fan when I started my holistic health career in the 90s. She would try my herbal products for help with "The Sugar" and "The Pressure" and shared with all her Bingo friends and relatives. Before I know It, I was selling my herbal product, Matol KM, hand over fist !! Mom made her transition in 2009 but continues to assist this work in the ancestral realm. I thank her everyday for her help and guidance in keeping this work going and flowing !! LOVE YOU PLEE !!

Their monthly Reflexology Parties are hosted in the Bronx by Mother Marlene Perrineau and in Harlem by Mother Marva Nelson. They receive reflexology & shoulder massage treatments from Sista Shai who is very, very proud of their progress. They are already quite active but now that their legs and health are stronger, there is no catching up to this bunch !! A Kundalini Yoga class consists of pranayama (breath work), akriya (series of exercises), deep relaxation and meditation. The practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation assists one in breaking attachments that do not serve. It helps to eliminate negative thought patterns. Emotional wounds are healed. One is given the experience of being whole--and enough. Kundalini is the creative energy of the cosmos that is-for all of us-indwelling
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing and a head covering, all preferably white. Bring a mat and water, though both are available for sale, the mat for $1 rental. The energy exchange for classes is $15.

MutShat Shemsut/Gianprem is a Ra Sekhi Kemetic Reiki Master, Teacher, Level 3, Reiki having studied with Master Teacher Rekhit Kajara Assata Nebthet in Oakland, California. She is also a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher. After eight years of practice, she began study with Krishna Kaur in Los Angeles, receiving her Level 1 certification in 2008. Level 2 certifications were acquired under lead trainer Gurucharan Singh Khalsa in Espanola, New Mexico and at Kundalini Yoga East in New York, with Sat Jivan Singh and Sat Jivan Kaur. She is a certified Y.O.G. A. for Youth teacher. MutShat gives her clients the benefit of both transforming modalities, assigning personalized Kundalini yoga meditations to address individual needs as determined by the Kemetic reiki sessions. This is the 8th Annual Harlem Celebration of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day at St. Nicholas Park. Our Keynote speaker was Stephanie Pope, Owner and Director of Bikram Yoga East Harlem and we enjoyed sponsorships from the African Holistic Health Chapter of New York, the Law Offices of Lorna McGregor, YMAA Publishing Center, Home Sweet Harlem, St. Mary's Episcopal Church-Manhattanville, and the Harlem News Group to whom we are grateful. As In previous years, we provided holistic wellness treatments for the general public from Healing Traditions (Leah R. Alexander, LMT) and the Ki Energy Center (Masters Tony Rogers and Ji) who did their usual excellent service. The presenters who provided interactive demonstrations are subtitled throughout the video and their contributions made the event magical. We thank the NYC Parks Department, WHCR 90.3FM New York, and the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce for their continued support of this annual event.

9TH ANNUAL VEGGIE PRIDE PARADE
APRIL 3, 2016
SHARE THIS EVENT FREELY & WIDELY..........
Parade route runs from Olde Meat District to Union Square Park.... The exact location of the line-up is 9th Ave at Gansevoort Street, which is just 2 short blocks south of W. 14th Street. Parade line-up begins at 11 am. Parade launch takes place at Noon, sharp.
Parade participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes and wear sign boards announcing their pride in their vegan lifestyle. Local restaurants, veg groups, and veg everything will be represented with banners and chants. The parade will include animal-rights activists, environmentalists, and people simply concerned with their health. But at the next VEGGIE PRIDE PARADE, all will come together with one voice, one expression, of veggie pride.
The parade culminates at Union Square Park (north plaza) at approximately 12:45 pm... in a festival for all to enjoy. (Festival goes until 5 pm....). There, revelers of all persuasions will hear well-known vegan speakers and music by vegan artists. They'll all partake in free vegan food and explore a wide variety of exhibitor presentations. At 2 p.m., a costume contest will take place.
Throughout the day, individuals will be encouraged to speak their mind at the Soapbox Testimonial Station. Other activists will beckon passersby to receive a dollar in return for watching a pro-veg video.
Organizer Pamela Rice feels confident that this year's parade will be the best ever. Ms. Rice said, "I'm hoping that at this event people will see vegans and vegetarians come out of the shadows, once and for all."
