An Earth Day Celebration with Women of the Medicine Wheel

For millennia women honored the Great Goddess, the Goddess within, and the Goddess that is the Earth through dance, movement, meditation and song. As women of the medicine wheel, we seek to revive and enhance these traditions for modern women four times a year as the seasons and energies of the earth and heavens change, bringing healing, transformation, freedom and enlightenment.
This April under the full Pink Moon, we will gather to call in the energies of Mother Earth and the spirits of the East, of air, enlightenment, new beginnings, the Goddesses of Spring, and the vibration of the eagle. In the continued spirit of Black History Month, we acknowledge that African History started thousands of years before slavery and continues until this very day. We acknowledge our ancient ancestors who gave birth to mathematics, science, astronomy, astrology, alphabets, agriculture, holistic medicine, spirituality, etc. We celebrate our most ancient one who impressed upon us to take care of our body temple for this is where the Most High dwells. They taught the importance of Father, Mother and Children which is the original trinity which is family. Many scholars committed their lives to ensure we obtain this knowledge to be passed on to future generations; namely, Dr. Ben, Dr. Clarke, Francis Cress Welsing, Dr. Dilbert Blair, Dr. Ivan Vansertima, Dr. Richard King, Dr. John G. Jackson, Dr. George G. M. James, Dr. Asar Hilliard and many many more.
For this Black History Month, lets make it our business to pick up their many books and DVDs and share with other in search of knowledge of self. Lets put into action the words of their books to elevate our consciousness and our community. Now that's a real Black History Month !! The R&B Community mourns the loss of Founder & Producer of the R&B Group "Earth, Wind & Fire", Maurice White.
His brother Verdine White reported that "Maurice passed peacefully in his sleep." Our condolences to all the friends of family. He will be missed and left a fantastic body of work to be enjoyed. I'm sure that is what he would want from us !! So lets celebrate him in his greatest works in video below !!!

Another beloved, female actress, Vanity, passed on Feb 15 due to health complication. She is the third person from the classic film, "The Last Dragon," to leave us so soon. She had a stellar and memorable performance in The Last Dragon. We all wanted to dress and dance like her in the 80s !

A Kundalini Yoga class consists of pranayama (breath work), akriya (series of exercises), deep relaxation and meditation. The practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation assists one in breaking attachments that do not serve. It helps to eliminate negative thought patterns. Emotional wounds are healed. One is given the experience of being whole--and enough. Kundalini is the creative energy of the cosmos that is-for all of us-indwelling
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing and a head covering, all preferably white. Bring a mat and water, though both are available for sale, the mat for $1 rental. The energy exchange for classes is $15.

MutShat Shemsut/Gianprem is a Ra Sekhi Kemetic Reiki Master, Teacher, Level 3, Reiki having studied with Master Teacher Rekhit Kajara Assata Nebthet in Oakland, California. She is also a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher. After eight years of practice, she began study with Krishna Kaur in Los Angeles, receiving her Level 1 certification in 2008. Level 2 certifications were acquired under lead trainer Gurucharan Singh Khalsa in Espanola, New Mexico and at Kundalini Yoga East in New York, with Sat Jivan Singh and Sat Jivan Kaur. She is a certified Y.O.G. A. for Youth teacher. MutShat gives her clients the benefit of both transforming modalities, assigning personalized Kundalini yoga meditations to address individual needs as determined by the Kemetic reiki sessions. MutShat believes that it is her purpose to assist others in their elevation even as she elevates herself.

Makes 4 cups

What You Need:
2 to 3 cups coconut water
1/2 pineapple (about 12 ounces), leaves and rind removed, cored and cut in chunks
2 to 3 blood oranges, peeled, seeded, and cut in chunks
2 cups fresh strawberries, with stems
| | What You Do:
1. Chill all ingredients. In a blender, place ingredients and blend until smooth, starting on the lowest speed and gradually working up to the highest. Blend until the mixture is smooth and the sound of the blender is high pitched and steady.
2. Drink immediately, or refrigerate for up to 4 hours in a tightly closed container. Shake before serving. |

This is the 8th Annual Harlem Celebration of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day at St. Nicholas Park. Our Keynote speaker was Stephanie Pope, Owner and Director of Bikram Yoga East Harlem and we enjoyed sponsorships from the African Holistic Health Chapter of New York, the Law Offices of Lorna McGregor, YMAA Publishing Center, Home Sweet Harlem, St. Mary's Episcopal Church-Manhattanville, and the Harlem News Group to whom we are grateful. As In previous years, we provided holistic wellness treatments for the general public from Healing Traditions (Leah R. Alexander, LMT) and the Ki Energy Center (Masters Tony Rogers and Ji) who did their usual excellent service. The presenters who provided interactive demonstrations are subtitled throughout the video and their contributions made the event magical. We thank the NYC Parks Department, WHCR 90.3FM New York, and the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce for their continued support of this annual event.
