Spring 2013 Extra-Curricular Classes
Kaneski's 2nd Grade Class Whale Watching Experience
Whales and dolphins and seals, OH MY!!
Mrs. Kaneski's class braved the frigid temperatures on the open sea and had a whale watching adventure.
While a few sailors retreated to the warmth of the inner cabin, others stayed outside with their eyes glued to the ocean in hopes of catching a glimpse of a California Gray Whale. Well, we were not disappointed! We saw the largest whale yet spotted this season according to our captain; A huge Baleen Whale. She surfaced several times giving everyone a chance to see this magnificent creature in her natural habitat. What a treat! Of course the dolphins, not wanting to be left out, traveled alongside the boat entertaining the kids with their own show. Lunch on the beach at Balboa finished off our day and we came home with another Fairmont memory secured safely in our hearts.

Feature Article Science Fair
On March 19th 2013, North Tustin's 15 top science fair students headed to the Orange County Fairgrounds to present their projects in the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair (OCSEF). The OCSEF is an annual event organized to encourage the youth of our county to learn about science and to consider a career in science or engineering. The competition involves presenting a
scientific project completed by the student to a variety of board and special judges who are scientists, engineers, and educators in industry and schools in and around southern California.
Following the Judging, students patiently awaited the awards ceremony the following Sunday, March 24th. The results of this year's competition were a strong showing by North Tustin students! Of the 15 North Tustin students presenting at the OCSEF, eight won awards and 2 qualified for the California State Science Fair in April. What follows are the listing of the awards taken by our students at the OCSEF.
