This webinar will give an overview of the appropriations made for public education and will discuss the details of the Foundation School Program distribution of funds to schools. Commissioner Williams released key chapters of the 2013 Accountability Manual on 5/24/13. This webinar will introduce participants to these chapters and prepare them to calculate their 2013 Index Scores. All information used in the webinar will be available to TCSA members through the Quality Framework Portal.  Texans Can Academies Offers Free Summer Tutoring Program in Five Texas Cities "Operation Success" is open to any Texas high school senior who failed TAKS tests For the third year and through the generous support of their donors, seven Texans Can campuses across the state will offer cost-free tutoring to any Texas 12th grader who failed to graduate because he or she did not pass one or two areas of the TAKS tests. Operation Success will be offered at no charge June 10 through July 3. Times will vary between campuses but students must be committed to attending tutoring at least four hours each day during the four-week period. Students must bring their student ID and current high school transcript to any participating school to register.   End of CSCOPE Means Hardship for Some Texas Schools by Morgan Smith; June 3, 2013
Beginning Aug. 31, the state's curriculum support system, known as CSCOPE, will no longer be a source of lesson plans for the 875 school districts that rely on it. The system, developed by a coalition of 20 publicly financed education service centers, will revert to being a scheduling tool for educators. Read the article.

 Last Day of School Means No More Students at Allan Elementary Campus By Kate McGee; June 6, 2013 Today is the first day of summer vacation, as the public school year came to a close yesterday in Austin. For students at IDEA Allan Elementary School, a charter school run by IDEA Public Schools, it was the last day of school at that campus. They'll be leaving behind an empty building and taking with them millions of dollars of future district revenue ... But 80 percent of the students at Allan are moving with the charter -- leaving the Austin school district. That'll cost the district about $60 million over the next seven years. Read the article.
