9-11 American Flag Memorial

All are invited to Sun City's annual911 Flags

9-11 American Flag Memorial from September 8th through September 11th.   

 

A display of nearly 3,000 flags represent the victims of that horrible tragedy 13 years ago.

 

The Huntley American Legion will play TAPS each evening at sunset.  Join other community residents and take a stroll near the hillside of flags and view the lake and fountain on Del Webb Blvd.  After TAPS are played around sunset on 9-11, there will be a candlelight and prayer vigil.  Bring a personal candle and join in commemorating this mark in history.  

 Medication Take Back Event - September 27th

Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal on Saturday, September 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Huntley Police Department - 10911 Main Street.  

No syringes or liquids accepted and please remove pills from the original packaging.

Huntley Fall Fest:  Sept 26th - 28th

FallFest Mark your calendars! It's time to get ready for Huntley Fall Fest!  This 3 day event runs from September 26-28 and includes something for everyone in the family!   

 

carnival Enjoy great food, live music and entertainment, the Lions Club pancake breakfast, a petting zoo, carnival rides, tractor show, craft show, car show, book sale, scarecrow contest, beer garden, fireworks and much more!   

 

Friday Night: 4pm - 11pm: FREE

Saturday: 10am - 5pm: FREE

Saturday Night: 5pm - 11:30: $5 adults, and 12 and younger FREE 

Sunday: 11am - 5pm: FREE

Fall Tree Branch Pick Up Schedule

The Huntley Public Works Department has scheduled its semi-annual curbside tree branch pickup for Village of Huntley residents.

 

The dates for pickup are as follows:

  • Tree Branch pick up north of Kreutzer: Week of September 29th. (Branches due at curb on Monday)
  • Tree Branch pick up south of Kreutzer (Sun City): Week of October 6th. (Branches due at curb on Monday)

Tree branches must be placed on the parkway the Monday before collection begins in each area.

 

Tree branch collection crews will make only one pass in each neighborhood. Branches put out after crews have passed will not be collected. Crews will not go on private property to pick up branches. Residents that miss the curbside pickup can make arrangements with their wastehauler or a Saturday one time only drop off is scheduled for October 11, 2014 at Public Works located on Donald Drive from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. 

 

 

Please note - the following will NOT be accepted:

  • Tree limbs larger than 10" in diameter or smaller than 1/2" in diameter
  • Tied bundles of branches
  • Bagged material or material in cans
  • Leaves and yard waste
  • Trimmings from bushes
  • Evergreen material
  • Stumps of any kind

Materials not accepted can be properly disposed of by contacting your wastehauler or utilizing a landscape service.
