 Huntley Farmers Market

Join us this Saturday, May 3rd, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Legion Hall to celebrate the last indoor market of the season and the weekly outdoor market starting on May 24th!

  

Enjoy all your favorites of the indoor market:

¨ Farm fresh eggs, local honey, naturally raised fresh frozen pork, fresh frozen chicken & ground beef, homemade jams & jellies, artisan cheeses, premium freshly-roasted coffee beans, amazing homemade baked goods and granolas, flavored oils & balsamic vinegars, and homemade dog treats.  Sharpening by Dave will be on hand to sharpen your knives, scissors and even your lawnmower blades!

AND 

Enjoy the start of the outdoor market with the following vendors in attendance:

  • Trogg's Hollow will be bringing fresh spinach, kale and spring greens mix
  • Providence Farms will be bringing potted perennials,  numerous herb & vegetable plants along with raspberry and strawberry plants.

$3 each or two for $5!

Huntley Curbside Tree Branch Pickup
 The Huntley Public Works Department has scheduled its semi-annual curbside tree branch pickup for Village of Huntley residents.

 

The dates for pickup are as follows:

  • Homes north of Kreutzer:
    Week of May 5th (branches due at curb on 5/5)
  • Homes south of Kreutzer:
    Week of May 12th (branches due at curb on 5/12)

Branches must be placed on the parkway the Monday before collection begins  in each area. Branch collection crews will make only one pass in each neighborhood. Branches put out after our crews have passed will not be collected. Crews will not go on private property to pick up the branches. 

 

Residents that miss the curbside pickup can make arrangements with their wastehauler or a Saturday one time only drop off is scheduled for May 17, 2014 at Public Works located on Donald Drive from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.

 

The following will NOT be accepted:

 

Tree limbs larger than 10" in diameter or smaller than 1/2" in diameter

Tied bundles of branches

Bagged material or material in cans

Leaves and yard waste

Trimmings from bushes

Evergreen material

Stumps of any kind

 

Materials not accepted can be properly disposed of by contacting your wastehauler or utilizing a landscape service.

Huntley Walmart - Supercenter of the Year!

Congratulations to Huntley's Walmart!

On March 11, 2014, during Walmart's annual convention in Orlando, the Huntley Walmart Supercenter received the honor of being named Midwest Supercenter of the Year for 2013!  This award, selected from among 450 stores, identifies a number of successful metrics including revenue growth, gross and net profits, and customer service/experience.  Way to go Huntley Walmart!

 

50/50 Parkway Tree Update

Residents who have had their parkway tree(s) removed due to the infestation of the Emerald Ash Borer and would like to participate in this year's 50/50 Replacement Programs please contact Barb Read via e-mail for the appropriate paperwork. 

 

While supplies last, the following trees are available for $150 each and will be planted in May:  Accolade Elm, American Sweetgum, Bald Cypress, Deborah Norway Maple, Northern Red Oak, Skyline Honey Locust, State Street Maple and Swamp White Oak (spring planting only).  Orders will be taken through Friday, May 2nd for spring planting.

 

Residents may also have the parkway tree replaced on their own and qualify to be reimbursed 50% up to $150. 

 

To receive information on the programs send an e-mail to bread@huntley.il.us and list your name, address and the year the Ash tree in the parkway was removed.

Art Contest Focusing on Huntley History 1851- 1951

Calling all artists from 6th grade to adults! Dig into Huntley's past and make it come alive through art.

 

Huntley history groups are seeking works of art highlighting Huntley's first one hundred years, from 1851 to 1951, as part of this year's countywide Look at Local History event.
