The Huntley Police Department is now accepting applications for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy. The Citizen Police Academy is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 19th, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and will meet every Wednesday night through May 21st, 2014 at the Huntley Police Department, located at 10911 Main Street, Huntley.
The Citizen Police Academy is a ten week program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Huntley Police Department. It consists of a series of classes and discussions which provide an overview of the various areas of law enforcement. It is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that affect law enforcement efforts in the Village of Huntley.
The Citizen Police Academy is free of charge and is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age and live or work in the Village of Huntley. Applicants will be subject to a background check. Advanced registration is required and seating is limited. Graduates of the program are not certified police officers; however, they are prepared with a better knowledge of how law enforcement agencies operate. Some graduates will decide to join the Huntley Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association which provides continuing education and volunteer opportunities with the Department.
