Funding Opportunities Ethical, Legal and Policy Issues in HIV Research with Key Populations (NIH)
Deadline: July 29, 2016
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages applications to analyze and address ethical, legal, or policy challenges specific to work with key populations in HIV research or health care.Proposed projects should be focused on ethical, legal or policy challenges in relation to research studies or program implementation for HIV or associated co-morbidities, affecting one or more of the following key populations: (1) men who have sex with men; (2) people who inject drugs; (3) people in prisons and other closed settings; (4) sex workers; (5) transgender people or (6) adolescent girls and young women at high risk of HIV acquisition or who are living with HIV. Black LGBTQ Health Across the Globe: A Regional Perspective
Deadline: September 12, 2016
We are editing a book about the health of Black LGBTQ people around the world (except the US). The specific regions of the world that will be focused on in this volume are continental Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada, and Western Europe. The purpose of the book is to expand the conversation about Black LGBTQ health by exploring both the risk and protective factors of Black LGBTQ communities around the world. Contributors should have the vantage point that the intersectionality of colonialism, anti-Black racism, heterosexism, homonegativity, biphobia, transphobia, and/or social class significantly and simultaneously impacts the lives and hence, the health of Black LGBTQ people around the world. Please note that while all completed proposals will be reviewed and considered, not all proposals will be accepted. All inquiries can be directed to Dr. Lourdes D. Commonwealth Fund Issue Brief - Women's Health Coverage Since the ACA: Improvements for Most, But Insurer Exclusions Put Many at Risk
Since enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), many more women have health insurance than before the law, in part because it prohibits insurer practices that discriminate against women. However, gaps in women's health coverage persist. Insurers often exclude health services that women are likely to need, leaving women vulnerable to higher costs and denied claims that threaten their economic security and physical health.
